Any recommendations on where to play in Vegas? I'm in town for the weekend and would like to get a round in. I'm staying at Red Rock and will have a rental car. Ideally would like to keep the round under $200, but will take all recommendations.

Couple buddies and I are heading to Vegas from Mar 15-20 and we are looking to get a couple rounds of golf in, would like to go somewhere nice at least once and then maybe once to a medium priced course. Any suggestions or tips for getting good cheap golf down there?

hey,

going to vegas with my dad in a few weeks [like mid march] and will prob want to play some golf out there. can anyone give me some advice on:

- best courses with reasonable green fees?
- can we rent clubs easily and, if so, will they be crappy or halfway decent?

i think we're going to stay in caesars and i read that harrahs have their own course. would that be worth considering?

tried doing a search but theres way more courses than i thot there were so getting any idea of how good a course is has been pretty tricky.

Red Rock is right down the street from Badlands isn't it? That gets my vote. I played the Desperado and Diablo nines a couple of years ago and found the course tough, but fair (I'm a 15). Any mishaps that may or may not have occurred are more attributable to staying up 'til 5a when we had a 9a tee time...

IF you play Badlands make sure you get on Desp/Diablo. The 3rd nine is boring/easy...etc...

Around the Red Rock there is the TPC Canyons, Nicklaus' Bears Best, Red Rock Arroyo Golf Course, and Paiute about half hour north.

All good tracks, all should be fairly decently priced until March.

It's too bad the Wynn is only open to people staying at their hotel... that course looks really nice.

I like Dragons Ridge....Badlands is a great value IMO

The Wynn is not a special course, it's overpriced. I've been on it but never played it, and I've seen it on TV a few times, and I cannot believe the price tag.

I can only imagine a golf course directly tied to a Vegas casino (particularly one where it's only accessible to casino guests) would be WAY overpriced. Hell, nearly all resort courses are overpriced to milk the tourists who stay at their hotel, but Vegas much more so.

It's more or less on 4 square blocks just off the Strip, so is pretty flat, and I'd imagine you can see all the surrounding buildings and hear the traffic, etc. For $500, I would rather drive to Mesquite/St. George and play 3 rounds at some very nice and nice-looking golf courses. The Wynn casino is a little nicer than Eureka/Casablanca/Virgin River/Oasis, though

Other than putting $ into making the course nicer, isnt it the same old DI layout? That was a nice course but not worth the $ you pay now for it.

I'm fairly sure the value of a Vegas golf course is inversely proportional to its distance from the strip.

Speaking of which, several years ago a friend and I played a round at a course called Desert Pines. It was overlaid on what I believe was a city park in a pretty crappy part of town east of the strip and adjacent to I-515. But the course was nice, it reminded me almost exactly of the Raven golf course here in town - lots of pine trees and pine straw between holes.

One bizarre thing, albeit probably not intentional, is that the foliage was so thick between holes that you could never take your cart off the hole you were on. There was even a point where there was a criss-cross between holes and there was actually a bridge built so they didn't cross. Maybe not intentional but it reminded me of Autopia at Disneyland - cars built on a rail so all you could do is basically go straight ahead. Fun course though, a little tight as if they didn't quite have enough room, but still a good time.

Badlands is very nice and I love the Idea of Pauite. Another great course is Tuscany. It is a favorite of mine

Note Angel Park courses are also close by too
