Had a chance at 59 (spoiler: scramble) Had a chance at 59 (spoiler: scramble)

Played a scramble tourney the other day for a local Police Department fundraiser.

Im a 10-12 handicap, my buddy who is prob a 20 handicap, another friend who couldnt break 150 and my friend's uncle who is a legit 7.

Started off by sinking a 40 footer on the first hole from off the green...and just kept it rolling the whole time.

We had a stretch where we birdied 6 holes in a row, including an eagle lip out. I know for most of you guys who are single digit handicaps this is probably just another scramble score, but this was literally the most fun Ive ever had on a golf course. All four of us, hit at least one putt from over 20 feet, and the 20 handicap probably sunk at least 3 from that distance.

We ended up shooting 10- (60) and were greenside rough in 2 on a short par 5 but couldnt get up and down for birdie...That might haunt me, as I was thinking about it after the round...How ridiculous is it to shoot a 59? Even in a scramble, that would have been a huge golf milestone.

What is the lowest you have ever shot in a scramble?

that's actually a pretty standard score, i play in 3-4 golf outings a year and we usually shoot in the 70's with a bunch of 15-20 golfers I haven't done my handicap in a while but 2 summers ago I was a 17, prob a little bit worse now. The teams that win are almost always in the 60-63 range.

but nevertheless congrats on the experience! sinking those 40 footers are so freaking nice lol.

19 under on a par 70, our handicaps were 2,4,8,9,10,10.... The course was setup with the whites all the way up so playing even easier than a 67.4/119. 9 hole course so hole 1/10 was the only hole where we would even have a shot in over 100 yards.

We have this scramble once a year where all the tees are all the way back and a couple tees are even placed on different holes to make them longer and the pins are on sidehills, we have taken 8s before. One year a team with a bunch of guys who played at IU shot 16 under, easily the most impressive score I've ever seen turned in in a scramble. I think we shot -5 that day and we were 0,0,8,8,10,10 handicaps

I've got a date tonight. I'm hoping for a chance at a 69.

Anyway, I thought the thread was gonna be about a round you had at your home course or something, not a scramble. Between cheating, ringers, and easy setups 59 is a very standard score. I think our lowest was a legit, no cheating -21 (for a net 51) at a full length, not easy course. We had 15 birdies and 3 eagles, one of them on a drivable par-4. But all four of us were single digit handicappers and never had a point where all four of us screwed up and didn't get it close. One caveat is that I do think we each had three mulligans or something so that probably saved our ass once or twice.

Aha, I knew I would get the "59 is standard in a scramble", thats why I prefaced it with "this is no big deal for most of you guys".

Just more or less a chance at a milestone for me personally...I didnt really think that anyone would seriously confuse the fact that I had a chance at 59 by myself.

anytime when you break a 60 scramble or not, it's an amazing feeling and it makes golfing extremely addicting. i was on the course when david duval shot 59 at the final round of chrysler in like 99 ish? i think the whole gallery was pumped up when they saw that 2nd shot on the par 5 18th. anyone remember this? hahahah i know this is old school!

With your group 59 would be a great score.

I think me and my friends have never lost a scramble. We just won the Steve Harvey one last week at Bali High in Vegas at 51, 9 shot win. We've won that 5 years straight and yeah Steve roasts us like no other at the end every year.

Put up a 56 once...usually around -10 with my usual foursome, which is three of us that are 10-12's and one random.

Interestingly, this year we played a private club for the second time....last year we had three of us and a 15, shot 58....this year, same 3 with a 4 handicapper, shot 63....goofy game....

i used to play in a scramble once a year, i think last time we shot 60 or 61 with 2 12s, an 18 or so who could hit it a long ways, and some guy who plays once a year (the scramble) but manages to hole every putt somehow. it's pretty standard.

-18 in the Bro Jake Open scramble and we lost to Nevada Bob's team who was -19

Worst scramble score +11 in the iron man at Furry Creek when the tees where the furthest back and all the holes where in the toughest spots + the 30mph wind and driving rain storm.

I plyed a 9 hole scramble last week. Uncle has a 3 handicap. I'm probably ~18. And my aunt is probably a ~100 handicap.

We had to use atleast 2 tee shots from each player, and we didn't make a putt over 5 feet. Shot 31 on par 35.

Meh, he wasn't anything special that day w/ irons compared to normal. I had some pretty nice shots myself, and then when I f'd up the odd shot like usual he was clutch. Good timing more then anything imo.
