I think I’m going to pick up the Cobra Baffler XL Iron Set via Amazon:

The $299 price point for right handed clubs seems like a very solid deal (the left-handed are $499 lol). I believe it is just the iron set (not the hybrid-iron combo) which is usually $399 or more anywhere else.

For a player who has not played regularly in quite a while, and wants to get better (but also have fun while drinking with buddies playing 18) does this seems like a good iron set for me? I believe they provide solid forgiveness and make it easier to add loft to the ball flight.

Anyone use these irons or believe they would fit what I am trying to do with the game of golf? Also, is the $299 as good of a deal as I am thinking it is? Thanks!

In my (limited) knowledge, I would say the most important factor for a beginner would be to acquire a very forgiving set. From what I know, a large cavity back and a regular (or even uniflex) shaft would do the trick.

(What do you normally shoot and how often do you intend on getting out?)

i was thinking adams when i read the OP, and that was pleasantly confirmed when clicking on your link. imo you'll find satisfaction in adams clubs in this particular point in your game.

I picked up that exact set recently Adams Super S 5-pw, 3h, 4h.

I'm pretty bad, just moved to Arizona and picking up the game again. I like the set so far, when I actually make good contact the feel is great and distance seems solid.
