Re: now that scott puked on his shoes, can we end the debate over long putters?

But it's not like pros that use the long/belly putter are awesome putters with them

T31 Simpson
38 Bradley
68 Els
80 Adam Scott
90 Haas
186 Singh

I don't recognize anyone in the top 30 that uses a long putter

I suppose if a guy putted with one eye closed and made everything, SMASHING record, then he/it would be banned. Is that the logic you are referring to?

Long putters should and hopefully will be banned ASAP then we can laugh at those who can't putt with a regular putter.
What about those of us who can't put with either putter?

I don't care if people are good with them or not, you are taking an element of skill out of the game which is the main point. Whether or not someone is winning with them is irrelevant to me.

Yeah, but Tiger is the GOAT. So you should oppose long putters. I mean, yeah he never used one, but what if he did, then your stats above would be different. Refute that, bitch!

Of course we know that if Tiger did use a long putter, and they were banned then it would be "omg why ban them just because of Tiger? Golf sucks!"

Yes, and neither you or lolcytri have refuted it with your examples. None of that is being reviewed by the ruling bodies, so I wouldn't deduce that they'd ban that stuff because of Tiger. It's because the long putter is being reviewed that said what I said. Throwing out the idea that I'd say the same thing about blue shoelaces is ridiculous because the ruling bodies aren't currently reviewing their use.

Re: now that scott puked on his shoes, can we end the debate over long putters?

It's convenient to take a controversy ex post and go back in time to construct a purely hypothetical situation and try to deduce what would happen.

How do you know that putting one-eyed will never be under review? or putting one-handed, or some other uncommon stroke? How about using a bandage on a finger, does that give a putter unfair advantage? Should that be banned?

lol of course I don't know what will or will not be reviewed. i'm dealing with what I do know and making a logical deduction based on the facts. (which you clearly agree with based on your "its convenient" sentence) Why are you so defensive about this??

I'm not defensive about anything. It seems to be you who is defensive about this "refute my logic" as though the path of USGA would be all but certain if Tiger used a long putter.

And you don't see the point about looking ex post at a situation and creating a hypothetical to logically connect something?

Golf and the Rules of Golf are both infinitely bigger than any one player. Both entities will do what is best for the game as a whole and would never make a decision based on one individual. Anybody who thinks otherwise is deluded.

I might sound defensive because it's frustrating dealing with incompetence.

I assume anyone who argues "no great putters use a long or belly putter therefore there is no advantage" is trolling
