Just depends what you consider stressful. Of course the job itself isnt stressful unless you constantly deal with Ahole members that like to complain about everything but working long hours and being away from your family could be very stressful for some people. Can put stress on the family too

sick brag about working at a quiet private club I guess.

Working at an understaffed semi-private club with two courses that each do 35,000 rounds a year for a bunch of ******* owners that let their accounting department make nearly all the business decisions is nothing like what you described.

Of course there are opposite ends of any spectrum. I'm not saying that most or even many jobs are like I just described, but they're out there and it's indeed thankless. I'm just saying, it's not all kicking back with your feet on the counter watching SportsCenter all day giving the nod to 40 members a day as they walk by the shop on the way to the first tee.

Hopefully you don't melt down under pressure, or when playing with Nick Faldo

Seriously, I was always a huge Norman fan growing up. The first tournament I ever went to was Bay Hill in 1990, I was beside the 18th green with my Dad when Gamez holed out. It was the first of many times my heart got broken rooting for Norman.....

Re: The amount of money in golf

First thing's first, OP.

Go out and practice from sun-up to sun-down for a week straight and see if you don't want to blow your brains out.

I still think I could make some sort of money playing golf if I devoted my life to it and had access to top coaching, practice facilities, etc, but I realized fairly quickly after moving back down to Arizona that I don't have the work ethic to even come close to getting there.

Maybe if I cut my own dick off and had no hopes of ever banging any chicks, but until that happens there's just no way.

Not many people can putt/chip/practice for hours and hours and hours, day after day after day. And unless you're a natural talent like John Daly, which you're clearly not with your handicap, that's the only way to get there.

But as others have probably said even if you did somehow manage to devote your life to it you'd probably never come close.

Wait, there's no money in golf or poker? Hopefully there's still money in banging chicks or else I'm out of ideas on what to do for a living.

Dude, you're at best an average golfer. What makes you think you can make thousands of dollars at an endeavor where half the golfing population is better than you?

Again, this is not like poker. This is an athletic competition.

I dont think they are common at all. As far as I know its quite rare to see a bunch of cash tourneys at local courses and such. Also I believe the mini tours don't travel across the states. Pretty sure they play the majority of their events in just a few states. I could definitely be wrong but its not like there will be tons of opportunities for you and besides, even if they were dont you think plenty of the +1 handicaps would be doing that now in which you would never have a chance against these guys

Re: The amount of money in golf

im more athletic than 95% of golfers i see on my day to day gold endeavours whether at range or on the course, said it. Most golfers really aint that athletic tbh, they just put in the time, are they better than me now, yea; but i got the potential. like i said in my OP, this was a more test the waters type post, i have no intentions on even doing this and everyone takes offence

You are insulting golfers by saying most of them are not atheltic. Yes your 20 handicappers are not but the serious golfers with + handicaps are. Id probably guess that 95% of the PGA and Web.com tour is more athletic than you.

No offense here but I dont see anyone with a 20 handicap to ever have the potential of getting to a + handicap. It is VERY rare especially if you didnt start young

Re: The amount of money in golf

We're not really offended. It's just that the answer to your question is such a blunt "no" that you're taking it as such. You have no idea what you're talking about. I don't mean that in a malicious way. There aren't cash tournaments just randomly held at golf courses. If there were, there would be web.com tour guys spread out across the country taking a week off to play in these to take candy from babies.

I love how the forum gets one of these posts every month and the OP always gets pissed when the forum tells him he has no shot at turning pro/making money playing golf when they suck. How could you possibly think youre going to go out and make $500 a week playing randoms when you arent any good?

So in the OP you're a 20 handicap and now you're magically better than that, cool

Do you track your scores or keep a handicap?

I really don't think you have any idea exactly how far away you are from making any sort of money in golf aside from maybe taking $100 for winning 3rd flight at your local Bud Light Scramble. You as a 20 handicap asking how close you are to being able to make money from golf is like gobbo asking how close he is to making money from basketball.

But you don't even know the OP. He's athletic, man!
