None. Zero. No chance. The fact it is even in the record books is a joke IMO. If a 36 hole event isn't an official victory how is his round considered official?

Don't you get it? Nothing is special unless it happened 30+ years ago.

Scratch that, the '86 Masters was 27 years ago. So everything 27+ years old in golf is magical and everything since is tainted. These recent stories are simply not old enough to collect dust. That's all that matters. Old, dusty books about golf found in your grandpa's attic.

I bet Ship shot a course record somewhere under lift, clean and place and they wouldn't let him have the record. Lost in time like tears in rain.
Actually, I am such a purist that I still play the ball down even when the event goes lift clean and place.

turned on tv to this putt this morning

Sept 27 (Reuters) - American Peter Uihlein went agonisingly close to posting the first 59 in European Tour history during the second round of the Dunhill Links Championship in Scotland on Friday.
The 24-year-old narrowly missed a 25-foot eagle putt on his last hole at Kingsbarns, one of three courses being used at the pro-am event, and had to settle for a 12-under-par 60 and a 13-under tally of 131.

Kid's had a pretty good year in Europe. Good to see that. He was in 2nd stage a few years ago with us at craig ranch. pretty sure he finished DFL. seems like he's found his game.

Its crazy how much action this thread has gotten this year. Guys are going stupid low nowadays.

Peter's am partner ( which should have been Huey Lewis, pulling out last minute) is a young 17 yr old that has some game what he didn't have is common sense. Peter's last hole on green in two for 59 kid is over on cart path next to the junk he isn't sure what to do so he calls for a ruling, dude your partner is on in 2 for a freakin 59 and his score is best on hole so Freakin pick up your ball it's good.

Lots of course changes and preferred lies due to bad weather so won't count.

Same event that was reduced to 36 holes last year is now down to 54. Scott Jamieson shot 57 last year when course was also butchered due to bad weather.

For me 59 is extraordinary for two reasons.

1. It represents an extreme outlier for score under par for a single round (
-13, ).
2. Because it is "under sixty," it has the extraordinary aura about it, as any golf score that is 5X is awesome.

For me both these things need to happen. 59 on a par 70 course is 60 or 61 on courses that PGA players play on 95% of the time .

One thing I don't get is that people think it is ok to have a 59 on a par 70 course, but not something odd like a par 69 or 68 course.

So people are ok with some arbitrary numbers (70) , but not others (69)??

Probably because the PGA doesn't play on any courses where par is less than 70?
