Great so if DJ ties or wins by 1 we won't know what's going on until after the round. Possibly 2 strokes if they decide to be nits about it.

I would expect something like this in Philadelphia, not Pittsburgh.

Yeah and if they're gonna wait to decide why tell him?

I could see the argument that it's better to know rather than finish thinking you won and then found out, but how much time do they really need to make a ruling? Definitely no more than 5-10 minutes tops. So why not look at it now and then just tell him the decision? ****ing idiots.

edit.... ok i see/hear it was 5th hole - a long time ago - and whether he caused his ball to move on the green........

apparently, rules official gave positive decision........... i would think that would be binding. but who knows?

DJ and penalty strokes...... unbelievable

Rules official just mumbling garbage. Doesn't sound like he knows his own rules.

for DJ to have:

a) something ruled a hazard that had spectators standing in it.

AND,

b) a rules official say X was okay and then have that over-ruled after the round.

i think is a complete joke

This would destroy someone mentally if he loses the tournament because of a penalty after the fact, especially after the hazard penalty a few years ago. How bizarre. Hope he runs away with it now.

what exactly happened?

he was some ways away from his ball and his actions - like dropping your putter- could have caused ball to move????

it seems strange that:

a) so many rulings are basically impossible to reverse........ unless you send someone back out after the round to play the 7th hole because they didn't deserve the sprinkler drop.

b) doesn't the leaderboard mean something competitively? i.e. i need to birdie 18 or NOT.......

c) i think the ruling should be instantaneous. even DJ on 18th at WS should have been told following the shot. not 2 shots later.... certainly not 13 holes later.

lol USGA what a complete joke of a situation. Us as fans have to watch not even knowing what the result will be until after the 18th hole? Not to mention the players playing with the uncertainty? they could not have butchered this any more then they have.
