The Masters website is just awesome. Watching live on the range and they have trackman on a number of players and plotting where their shots last. Kinda fascinating.

so speith said his ball moved - as he was addressing an iron, i think in the rough.

someone - caddy? official? - told him they thought the ball oscillated i.e. moved slightly but then moved back into original position

i remember my old teaching pro said that was ok but i thought people here said it wasn't ok.

is it ok?

good on speith to call it on himself even if it didn't turn out to be penalty....... balls must move slightly all the time when addressed in rough. surprised you don't see this much more often.

If it moves back to it's original location there is no penalty.

not if you address it properly. it really shouldn't happen unless you're doing something like patting down grass to improve your lie which is against the rules. if the ball moves from just resting your club on the grass behind it, you're addressing it way too close.

pins should be wrapped with something dense...like foam rubber, or sponge tape. striking the pin w your approach should result in a positive. always.

but golf isn't fair... if you're too good you deserve to be punished!

Magnets. In balls, holes and poles. And if the ball sticks to the pole, it's considered a hole-out.

The masters is so epic, must be borderline euphoric for these pro's to play in this event
