Also LOL for saying it means nothing given the field. Id say that was true had he not been so close so many times already. Obviously means alot and this is going to jumpstart is career. Id say the O/U for rest of season is 1.5 wins for JT
i never said "it means nothing". i was keeping things in perspective, as it related to Revots primarily point of comparing JT to GOATSPIETH.

For the record I never said JT would have an incredible year like Spieth just had. What I said was that Spieth had a season where absolutely everything went right, that his talent level is not necessarily above another young guy like Thomas, and that Thomas would be ranked higher in the OWGR in 2-3 years.

I do respect Spieth and he is a great player. My point is that I don't expect him to follow up his almost-perfect year with anything close. And that other young players will be right there with him. We'll see.

Justin Thomas is awesome. Good to see him get a win. With that said, this is Spieth's season until someone takes it away from him. Day, Fowler, Rory, DJ, Matsuyama, Bubba et all have a good shot at it...but the best part about following the PGA is seeing which dog/rook decides to step up and make a run.

Thomas? Finau? Holmes? Rodgers? Kim?

If it's anything like last season, we're all gonna need to stock up on some popcorn.

Let us PGA.

revots, would you like to bet on total wins (top 3s/5s/10s), avg OWGR points/event earned, money list, or anything similar for this PGA Tour season? You will have Justin Thomas and I get Jordan Spieth. You have a massive head start. All I'd want is a 15-20 start minimum for both players in case of a serious injury.

Sure I'd take that bet. $100 bucks J. Thomas earns more than Spieth this year on the official PGA money list if you're interested.

ok. Payable by paypal or venmo only. This is for the 2015-16 wraparound season. How about we do an 18 start minimum? No reason to think this comes into play, but its pretty dumb to count it if either falls that far short of their expected schedule.

Consider me booked if you're ok with this.

OK I'm good with that. 18 start minimum is fine, and PayPal is no problem. Booked.

Looks like they are both teeing it up this week, I may know in a few days just how bad a bet this was.

Having my draft this week. Who are the rookies to look for this year other than the two who have won already?

I don't think that's a good bet but I respect you putting your money where your mouth is.

It is a closer bet than you guys think. I dont think some of you realize how good Justin Thomas is. Kid is a stud. I still think Spieth is definitely better but JT could easily have a breakout year like Spieth just had

Yeah I don't expect JT to have a year like Spieth just had, that was one for the history books. I don't expect Spieth to have a year like Spieth just had either. If he does it again, I'll pay my $100, call him the new Tiger, and admit I was wrong.

Patton Kizzire most likely non-winner to get a win. Michael Kim will make a lot of cuts imo. Van Der Walt has been solid on the Euro Tour.

Agreed. I don't think JT could do what Spieth did last year, but I expect him to be in contention on Sunday in at least two majors this year.

I think the bet is more even than you might think given the JT slight head start. I think JT winning this one instead of another Sunday bad performance will help him going forward. I imagine Strokes gained tee to green are also fairly close between the two of them, obv JS crushes the SGP though

I am really surprised revots actually accepted that bet. Especially at even odds.

You want anymore action, revots? Same terms.

I have faith in my boy JT but I'm gonna stick with the one bet though... I mean Spieth did practically sweep the majors last year.

The one thing that win does it it basically buys JT a free pass into the Tour Championship. He would have needed to get that far anyways to beat Spieth, but he will have chances to make huge money in smaller field FedEx Cup events without pressure to keep placing in X place to advance each week. I know its not a literal lock to make it with a win, but a handful of top 10s will be plenty now even if he doesnt finish first or second again and a few top 5s would still be big checks. I haven't looked at their expected schedules, but I would expect Spieth to play maybe 22 events and JT to play 30.

The biggest advantage that JT has though is one that is probably overlooked by most in that he will have 3 events between the PGA and the Barclays where the fields will be really watered down due to the Olympics in that middle week and he can collect huge checks. You've got to assume Bubba won't defend at the Travelers the week before the Olympics unless he fails to qualify which seems unlikely, Spieth obviously can't play the John Deere which he owns, and I don't see why any of the Olympic players would play the Wyndham right before the FedEx Cup starts. JT is nowhere close to making the Olympics as the 16th ranked American since only 4 can get berths and the only way that Spieth doesn't make it is if Rickie/Bubba/Dustin/ZJ all win like 5 times between now and July.

JT going to win again this year and have probably 10+ top 10s.

I think JT also has more variety of shots that he can hit than Spieth does. Certainly longer

Spieth just has that "It" factor that no matter what he faces, he just gets the job done regardless if its pretty or not.

Really looking forward to watching both of these guys play this year

Ship on the bag for Martin Flores this week in Mississippi. Martin fired -5 67 included 4 under the last 6 holes.

Asked him on twitter if he could give some insight regarding the adjustments he is making this week vs when he's with Will.

glgl, Ship and Martin
