Any elite golfer with half a brain shouldn't be wasting their time in Rio.

But it could very very lucritive for the second tier guys when it comes to future endorsements

Agree with you here. Could be real big for an Asian golfer for example.

graeme delaet with a 63 on sunday at barbasol... i guess he plays better when not near the lead.

reason i bumped though was something i saw in british open thread:

delaet and romero both improved their scores each day of the tourney.. a bunch never went higher but had 2 or 3 tied rounds in row.

thought it was interesting mathematical idea...... a bit harder to do than you might think with a cut. and i think barbasol had a 54 hole cut too. so your 78-76, which is easy to improve on, doesn't get you to the weekend.

delaet 3 shots to get out of bunkers.......... doubles a par 5 when he was inside 35 feet in 2 shots........ complete sculls. don't think there was problem with his lies in the bunker

I remember he withdrew from Memorial with the chipping yips. If he shaved that beard he might be able to see the ball

He shaved it. Not helping, evidently.

Glen Abbey gets bashed by alot of people..... but i thought it looked and played really well today. front 9 is meh, but back 9 is excellent

couple of canadian amateurs in the hunt........ one is a NHL referee apprentice and has actually reffed games.

I always thought the back 9 at Glen Abbey was pretty interesting.

Maybe he had a little snort during the walk between 5 green and 6 tee?

premature question....... but can you renounce your amateur status upon winning tourney? i.e. to get the prize money and PGA status..

or is it whatever status you started with?

is du toit still at university of idaho? i see he's ranked 70 or so in college golf... won the bc amateur in 2015 and not this year...

du toit triples..........

not sure what happened beyond bad drive, plugged sand and mediocre chip - tricky though ... i must have missed one shot somewhere.

EDIT: penalty drop and THEN punch out.... thought that only happened to me...... triple bogeyed the par 5

Du Toit recovered brilliantly from the triple yesterday.

where's the fairway on #1? did they change the order of holes on the front nine at some point? i think so

hadwin moving up nicely

this is senior british open comment but that jiminez interview was amazing... a bit cliched when others quote miguel but when he says it it is brilliant..... plans for tonight.. friends steak, wine, cigar, malt whiskey.. LOL

hadwin misses 2 putts by 50 feet each on the same hole..... first putt was from way above the hole but don't understand the 2nd putt - assuming it's correct.

how does DJ hit his lob wedge 120 yards? i don't "see" much clubhead speed at all. on that swing, not in general.

seen some 300+ drivers where i didn't "see" much clubhead speed either...

so it must be deceptive

Snedeker thinks Du Toit is 18.

Laird (73-69-68), Merritt (74-71-69), Senden (73-72-70), DH Lee (74-71-70), Taylor (73-72-70), and Castro (74-72-71) all decent shots to do this at the Canadian. Streb also could, but it'd require a 65 or better Sunday.

Nice shootout on the back nine forthcoming. Ogilvy posting -9 after a sick round, but it won't hold.
