2:48 on this course is pretty impressive. The grounds are hilly and look huge and not really designed for walking

Really wish they'd just end this on Sunday night prime time like they used to. No competition (from other sports anyway), unlike tonight. Ending at 5PM PT on a Monday doesn't seem optimal for the viewer nor ratings.

So I forgot to record it, and looking at scorecards it looks like Walker and Matsuyama absolutely punted it away by playing par golf the last 9+ holes and giving the field the opportunity to catch up, which one of them did. And got damn Jason Day. Jesus.

+1 on the sunday vs. monday........... is today a holiday in the USA? i don't think so but not totally sure (i live in canada)........ other monday finish i know of is labor day weekend i think.

No holiday
01-13-2015 , 12:31 AM
Yeah, no holiday. To be fair, the Monday finish would be great IF 1) it wasn't the same day as the NCAACG every year, and 2) they didn't bitch out and end it before the football game begins. There must be a reason for doing it this way but not sure what it is, or I knew and forgot. lol olds.

As you note, the other regular Monday finish is at TPC Boston on Labor Day, which imo is a welcome change, although the course which hosts the event the following week may not agree.

Thought J.Walker was going to win after 9 holes - the guy was hot then... but Reed's eagle 2 on par 4 was huge!

I'm looking forward to the DJ / Walker / MacKenzie US Open pairing.

So it seems like Doug Barron was the first player ever to get banned. How the hell do you find out that you are low on testosterone?

Your wife is banging the pool guy?

i see local boy roger sloan who had qualified for this year's tour got into this week's field through monday qualifying...

so brutal that he had to qualify for an event like this, but i guess it's start of new year/winter/etc. and wife/family probably wants to go to hawaii so probably a pretty decent field for a garden variety type event.

this is purely canadian comment, but could never figure out how nick taylor was seeded ahead of sloan for this pga season (taylor has now won, but i mean before that)

It seems that, having already banned caddy races, the PGA Tour continues their fight to make sure the Phoenix Open stops the whole "making golf more fun for the players and audience"-nonsense.

The 16th hole has nothing to do with golf, it has to do with fans acting like idiots and the players catering to such. The 15th and 17th holes are infinitely more exciting for the true golf fan. Looks like the PGA Tour thinks things have gone too far on 16 and they're probably right.

That being said, I'm perfectly OK with this once per year. Any more and it turns into Caddyshack II, and we all know how bad that movie is.

The players can still hand out hats and whatnot. The tour just wanted to avoid things escalating to a point where Bubba is pulling out a t-shirt cannon and blasting people in the face or something. Meh.

No, it has nothing to do with fans acting like idiots and players catering to such.

It has to do with people having a bit of fun, including the players.

For the Web.com top 50, Taylor finished nine spots ahead of Sloan.

Webb Simpson shot a 62 in the first round of the Sony Open. He's using a standard length putter this week.

Clark, the guy who says he won't be able be able to compete with a short putter is T1. Would be funny if the tournament came down to Webb and Clark each putting an 8 footer to win tie or go home

Just practice hitting it within 2 feet ez game

Hopefully that putt has a ton of break for their sake.

Need Villegas or Leishman to win the Sony open!
01-17-2015 , 09:18 PM
Soooo apparently after missing the cut at the Sony Open, Robert Allenby went to the bar to drink away his sorrows. Then at some point in the night got kidnapped, beaten up, robbed and left 6.5 miles away from where he originally was.

01-17-2015 , 11:13 PM
Just read that myself. Glad he's okay. (at least physically)
01-18-2015 , 08:04 AM
That's insane.
