Maybe Tiger's been better, but it doesn't matter , because that's great company to be in.

IMO, his putting wasn't that bad in that tourney , either.. It just wasn't great on the front nine.. Those ones he was missing weren't gimmes... I'd say he hit one 'bad' putt on the front nine in the last round.
Sure but you have to question the thinking that it was a good idea to play the week before a major halfway around the world. Jack doesn't even like the fact that Rory played in Memphis, playing in Sweden is even worse.

He got a new putter and new irons from PING, he wanted to get a competitive feel with them and they played Wed-Sat. I do think the whole playing the week before argument is tedious, some guys like to do it and some don't. Guys have won Majors playing the week before.

While I'm sure you know this, the fact the tournament ended on a Saturday does make a difference. He probably could have arrived at Olympic before midnight local time that night.

He flew back home Saturday to spend time with the family before heading out, I think he is just arriving today.

Just got an email from a good buddy and Olympic Club member, he's going to be a course marshal on #17 Friday-Sunday afternoon....man, I am so jealous!

cliffs: Ishikawa and Levin will both be at Olympic.
thx. i saw levin missedcthe cut. did wonder whether he could still make it (someone else having expiring points)

Like Westwood for this one, he's so consistent with his driver which should be key around Olympic.

Of course. Technology as much as anything. But when the wind kicks up Pebble Beach becomes the most difficult US Open course. 3rd round in 2000 wasn't much better; Els was the only player to break par. In 1992 the final round had the 3rd highest scoring average since WW2, with 4th round 1972 the most difficult.

does the tw, phil, bubba group rock or suck for those viewing at the course? all would have had big crowds following them, does this make the groups before and after miserable with all the people trying to get into position or is it no big deal?

It will suck badly for those viewing at the course. I saw Tiger last year at sherwood country club and you were basically lucky to even see him. You could tell where he was by the swarm of people following the group.

For the players I imagine they might get distracted by the amount of people movement. It could also possibly be interesting because Kevin Na is in the group in front of them lol.

wow (referring to na being ahead of them).

i could be wrong, but i'm thinking that a course like olympic doesn't have too much spectator room and it's in a major city (more tix sold, or is there a limit that's hit every single year??) so i think it could get very bad.

uso at pebble wasn't too much of a problem surprisingly. not totally sure why. i guess because there are very few trees inside the course??

Re: 2012 US Open | The Olympic Club, San Francisco, CA

So apparently Olympic Club has removed like 600 trees from the property due to disease and other reasons since '98 ...so combined with all of the technology advances and other changes to the course, expect this tournament to play way different than the '98 one did
