Re: 2012 US Open | The Olympic Club, San Francisco, CA

boss i didnt say he was a favorite. what i like for this turny ( if he is playing well ) is his lay up mentality ( even tho i hated his lay ups in masters)

i think if he gets in trouble he wont compound the issue like those (whos superior skills urge them) who go for it.

he has a solid wedge game when he is playing well and solid hybrid game. i just think hes the kinda guy that can grind it around ugly.

Didn't realize Bethpage was hosting the Barclays. That'll be sweet.

Won't the 670-yard par 5 not favor the long hitters at all? Think about it, nobody is going to hit it in 2 and nearly everyone will lay up to a comfortable full-shot distance for their 3rd shot into the green. It's really a distance equalizer I think

that's how i'd look at it. and what distance are pga pro's money up to. it has to be at least 150 yards

Random thought: It'll be a travesty if the US Open doesn't go back to Winged Foot soon.

Strangely enough, the exemptions are listed on the U.S. Open website in addition to the wikipedia page. The U.S. Open site also lists all qualified players.

Spencer didn't make it in sectional qualifying. But he can get in if he's in the Top 60 OWGR after this week. He came into the week 61st.

Even though he's not in yet, he would definitely be a good dark horse pick.

US Open gonna go on an ELITE venue run in 2015-2019 with Chambers Bay (GOAT), Oakmont (really enjoy watching them on this course even if they evidently hate it), Erin Hills (2nd GOAT), Shinnecock, and Pebble.

Unfortunately we have to get there first, and standing in the way is Merion, a course that is too dated for me to remember aside from the mega gay wicker "flags" and Pinehurst, possibly the worst venue of all time, although it may go from worst to awesome with the removal of all the rough.

Second this. Finale in 2006 with Furyk, Monty, Mickelson, and Ogilvy was awesome.

Also, does anyone recall which US Open featured the greens that were like putting on an ice rink? Was it Shinnecock Hills? That must have been a biatch to play was legit entertaining to watch.
