O'Meara isn't on the Andy North level of wtf two-time major winners (because after all, North won what, ONE other tournament?) but nonetheless he is a middling pro with a Scott Hoch/Mark McCumber type of career imo* that is going to be rewarded for a brief hot stretch that was aided by a pretty weak year by Tiger and both Couples and Duval failing to close out the Masters.
* OK, that was mean. Tom Lehman is a better example, except without all the chokes.

What's really awesome is that tuq has gotten so used to hating on Tiger that he's progressed to hating on Tiger's buddies.

It did occur to me that being the Original Tiger Taintsniffer would probably positively impact O'Meara's candidacy as for awhile there he was best known for being Woods' wingman, but these days I try not to introduce Tiger into discussion since it's like injecting a thread with HIV.

Too lazy to look it up, but who's 4th-6th after Phil & Vijay? We're talking just US Tour, right? DL3 got 17+ wins since '95? Ernie?

I think Furyk compares quite well to this group given his era and Majors performances, and expect him as lock to make it.
* Another way to look at this is that Jim Furyk is one of only 5 players to win 15+ times on PGA Tour since 1960 with at least 1 major, and not be in HoF yet. The others are DLIII, O'Meara, Couples, and Pavin. Pavin has one less win and 8 fewer Top 5s in majors. DLIII, O'Meara, and Couples will make HoF, too.

Grunch, can't be first to say nice at slipping in a phony golfer in that graphic.
Agreed DL3, MarkO & Ferd all get in, and deserve to, I guess. DL's a ninny, MarkO a very very consistent drifter with a gigantic spike, and Freddie under achieved, don't care how nice a guy he is or how bad his back is.
I go back & forth on Monty. If he had just sacked up at Winged Foot, or managed to steal Riviera from Elkington, it's not even a question, first ballot HOFer. As of now, I say no, but I'll change my mind again.
What about Olazabal, Woosnam & Clarke? Clarke does have two WGCs to go with the Open, right?

Unsure if srz, but give Phil the USOs at Winged Foot, Shinnecock & Pinehurst and he's the Lendl of golf.
Furyk far more popular and far nicer guy than Lendl.

That 2nd shot on 18 is unforgivable, simple as that.

Bad as Monty's at WF or Annika's at Pumpkin Ridge. And his 2nd shot at 17 was lousy too. He really was in position to steal this out of absolutely nowhere or at least force a playoff, which would've been an all-time great LOLWTFBBQOMGROFL.
The three majors are awesome, but he's been pretty bad since, wouldn't be surprised if he changed equip/caddy/coach and spread himself thin chasing $$$. He also moved to America too fwiw.

Btw Lendl vs. Chang in French Open is the most awesome tennis match ever.

Yeah, it prolly is. Certainly the GOAT non-final (4th round, jfc, thought it was a semi or qtr. Who would've guessed Lendl would win another Slam after, but not Chang?

Re: 2012 US Open | The Olympic Club, San Francisco, CA
I was a huge tennis-fan back then and Lendl was my favourite player. Then it all turned into a "who can serve the hardest"-game and I lost interest.

Connors vs Krickstein (1991 US Open 4th Rd) will forever be my personal favorite. It happened at the height of my tennis 'career' (high school tennis team lol). It is by far the most euphoric I have ever been watching ANY sporting event. Heck, Connors entire run that year was incredible (ldo). Connors was my hero... scrappy, smart, not the most elegant player. I'm pretty sure I mimicked that "point at each section of crowd followed by the knee kick" about a million times on the tennis court after that. Oh, and that point against Paul Hairhuis may be the single most memorable point in tennis history. And comparing Connor's fist pumps after that point to Tiger's... well... it's not even close (*golf reference thrown in to keep everything kosher).
Oh, and Jim Courier can suck a bag of d*cks for ruining that run. He's the Stewart Cink of tennis... or something like that.
