Sky TV coverage for majors is dreadful, I assumed when coverage started at 6 the opening groups would just be starting but Mcilroy had already finished his round and Tiger was at the 17th. WTF seriously?

They take their feed from US TV. Nothing to do with Sky.
American networks don't seem to be able to show 11/12 hours of continuous live golf. If they did, Sky would show it.

if you go to http://www.pga.com/pgachampionship/live/pga/player.html you get full rounds of both marquee groups, fwiw
group 1: woods, bradley, kaymer
group 2: mickelson, harrington, DL3
