Heh -- local golf association president basically put out a notice to all players in our area considering playing the cash scramble. Play that event, and don't bother applying to any of ours.

how did it get out? we used to have a big one every spring. it was our masters.

a 2man 2 day scramble. big pot. big payouts. guys from state and pembroke would be there.

some mini tour guys.

but we kept that low key. only those playing knew the deal and you didnt dump money in pot till day of. so from outside it still looked like a typical hit and giggle.

Re: 2012 Amateur Golf Tournaments Thread

so i decided i'm going to play some amateur tournaments that have B and C flights (and here in vancouver, some very elite players have played in these tournaments, like hadwin AFTER he finished 4th in PGA tour).

anyway, since i made this decision i am thinking about golf much differently. went out yesterday and shot 38 on the back nine from the whites (first time out since decision). these C flight tourneys are from the whites i think (for the C flight portion). 46 on the front from the blues. the 46 should have been probably at least 3 strokes lower while the 38 probably should have been 40 or 41 but that's golf to some extent.

anyway, this will motivate me to get better. specifically take some of the variance out of my game. get rid of the terrible shots (focus on club selection that maximizes solid contact) and course manage myself alot better.

any advice for the pitching/chipping yips. nice thing about whites is that i make a ton of GIR whereas from the blues i do not.

Pretty sure someone caught wind of it who serves on the BoD of the association.

Then a notice was sent out to the top 5% of players in the area and then word trickled down from there.

Ironically, the scramble was Sunday and then there was an Association event the next day. I was planning on playing both

Re: 2012 Amateur Golf Tournaments Thread

This thread made me decide to research amateur golf in Ontario and I have entered the ontario amateur qualifier on may 28th at the barrie country club. I have no shot of qualifying but I want to see if I can play my game in tournament condition with the pressure and all that. Should be a lot of fun as one of my buddies will caddy for me. Anything under 85 i'd be happy with and I would consider breaking 80 to be a success.

We played the north and south this weekend then just the north next weekend. I am currently T3. I shot 69-67 (-6) in the first two rounds and am two shots back of the lead.
The tournament ended on the last weekend in april and went real well. I was two back to start the weekend and shot 65 the third round to go into the last day with a 4 shot lead then shot 66 in the final round to win by 4, so pretty happy with how everything went the final weekend obviously.

Jesus Stadler -- nice shooting!

I played an event while 2p2 was down. The opening 2man better ball event for my golf association.

Pretty pathetic. Me and my partner missed a combine 6 GIRs yet somehow only mustered a 69 to for T5. We had three 3-putts as a team too which is dreadful.

Despite that, it feels good to be striking the ball under the heat of competition so I'm feeling pretty good.

Yes I already tried to qualify a week ago, I missed getting thru local qualifying in a 6 for 1 playoff. My qualifier was at my home course and I just didn't play that great and shot -1. It was about 85 for 6 spots and I ended up in the playoff and two guys birdied the first playoff hole and I just burned the edge so it was over. I ended up winning the playoff for second alternate but theres a 99.99999% that will mean nothing for getting into sectional qualifying.
