Signed up for a 6-man cash scramble with scorers in each group in May. Each group is allowed 1 pro too... wonder what it'll take to win?

(6k to first place)

Just checked the early leaderboard only to see that it's been delayed for bad weather.

I also see you're playing with Justin Searles. Played with him in a mini-tour event last year. Couldn't stand him, such a little whiner. Always crying if every shot wasn't spot on perfect. But he pretty much made everything - really good putter.

GL and hopefully you crush him and Jerry Rice too.

We're booked for now but if something falls thru -- possibly!

If you ever need an extra for a scramble, LMK

6 man scramble including a pro with real money for the winners? If it's setup like a typical scramble deal (middle tees, normal speed greens, low rating, etc) it will be really, really deep, like -21 or something stupid low.

Yeah -- kinda what I had in mind. I figure the Par 3s will really be the equalizers. Maybe 3/4 Par 5s being eagles. I've got a team of all 4s or better with 3 guys who can fly the ball 290+ regularly.

Should be a good shootout.

Re: 2012 Amateur Golf Tournaments Thread

So let's say you are playing in a 2 man event, with a handicap gap maximum of 10 shots, and only get 80% of your handicap. Do you think the 80% should be applied before or after the 10 shot max?

For example, a 0 and a 14 are playing together. Should the 14 be reduced to a 10 (max gap) and then have the 80% applied (so they get 8 shots total)? Or should it be 14*.8= 11.2, then because it's over 10 they get all 10 shots?

Meaning an official scorer with each group to make sure nobody is cheating?

Yeah. Of course, that's critical since 98% of scrambles have cheating.

lol a scramble without cheating is like a morning without sunshine.
You just look at the groups and the numbers they post its so bad that you at least get a laugh out of it.
Seen lots of 55's and 56's from groups that looked like they couldnt tie their shoes

That sucks to hear. I've never worried about it, but then again I've never played in cash scrambles.

Re: 2012 Amateur Golf Tournaments Thread

Didn't get a chance to update in advance, but I am playing the Alameda Commuters tournament this weekend and next. The first round was yesterday and second round today the the final two rounds next weekend. We are playing at Chuck Corica in Alameda, there are two courses there, North and South. We played the north and south this weekend then just the north next weekend. I am currently T3. I shot 69-67 (-6) in the first two rounds and am two shots back of the lead.
