Singapore as a whole is pretty much overrated.

A glorified transit city.

Everything in Rome.

And really, more or less all mainstream tourist attractions are for obvious reasons. IMO the ones that actually lived up to the hype would make for more interesting discussion.

For sure, Bagan is worth seeing. The nice thing about the temples in Bagan is that they feel like they are closer to their original states. Maybe they are actually not, but at least it felt like being in an ancient city. So many of the other temples or statues are constantly redone, coated in gold paint, propped up, with barriers and donation boxes placed right in front of them. It just kind of takes away from the authenticity a little.

Glacier National Park.

Don't get me wrong, it's awesome. But there are other parts of the country more scenic and have 1/10 the congestion in the summer. East side of Mt. Ranier, Mt. Saint Helen's, and Independence Pass in Colorado come to mind. Flathead Lake on the way to Glacier is spectacular as well.

Going-To-The-Sun Road is congested in the summer. It's 50 miles long but takes 2 hours to drive from one end to the other. And that's if you don't stop and check stuff out. If you are willing to camp for a week, Glacier is awesome but most people just drive it in a day and never go back.

Yea I would agree, I didn't go as a tourist though I lived there for 4 months with a Chinese family, my girlfriend of the times her mother and brother so I would say i got to see a different side of Singapore.

But thinking of two weeks there as a holiday it would be boring as hell its overpriced and there would be nothing to do.

By far the best part of the Louve is the building itself. The artwork is kinda boring.

How ignorant can one be?

To the guys who have at least a little sense for art and culture: do not miss the Louvre, you will find some of the best pieces of art there. Only very few museums in the world are on that level.

Robben Island.

It would be cool if you were allowed to wander around and see the place at your own pace. However, you get shoved on a bus, get given a couple of talks by the guides then get herded onto the boat back to the mainland. The whole experience is around 3-4 hours including the ferry from and to Cape Town.

The Statue of Liberty. Best part is the ferry ride.

Backcountry Glacier is amazing. As soon as you hit the backcountry trails there is nobody around, probably my favorite backcountry hiking in the US.

Or even the Bowman like campsite. Best car accessible campsite I've ever been to.

To me it is not such a thing as an underwhelming tourist attraction. It's more our expectations that are generally high.
