Tulum Mexico or Puerto Rico for a vacation

Looking to use some of my Southwest points for a beach vacation for the lady and I this summer. I have pretty much narrowed it down to Tulum, Mexico, or Puerto Rico for our trip.
We both want a beautiful beach to lounge on, but I also would like to snorkel/dive and explore caves and the culture of the locals. Not looking for an all inclusive tourist trap.
Does anyone have any suggestions?

Having been to both PR & Tulum/Playa many times, I'd suggest Playa / Tulum area.
Puerto Rico has poker, but Tulum (or Playa del Carmen) does not. Other than that, I think most people would enjoy Playa better than PR, though if you wanted strictly a beach vacation Vieques in PR might not be a bad choice.
Lots of restaurants & shopping (5th Ave in Playa), great beaches, drift diving (Cozumel) and cavern diving (Tulum).
