Traveling to Atlantic City.. Need some help

My wife and I are going to travel to Atlantic City on Aug. 4th (sat) for 1 night. We are bringing along her brother who is turning 21. I would like to stay in a casino so we do not have to worry about driving but I am finding all of the rooms are over $200. Can anyone suggest a way to get a room mid summer on a Sat night for a more budget friendly trip. I do play poker so are there any places that I can guarantee myself a poker rate instead of just hoping they give me one if I play.

Also we are not the "partying" type but we would like to show her brother a good time. What can you suggest that we do with him for the 2 days. We plan on leaving Pittsburgh around 4 in the morning and arriving a little before noon then getting a hotel for Sat. night and driving home Sunday.

Thanks for any help....

Go to the B&M forum section and look around AC threads there.

I believe there is a poker room rate at Tropicana at least that is easy to get...

thank you for your response.
I have been searching and asking around there as well. I posted here because I had a question or 2 about nightlife as well.

i think trop would be best for casino entertainment. The quarter is diverse with shops and bars but provides a party atmosphere. You can go to one of their many themed bars more low key and has lots of young people around. Walk down the boardwalk looking at the 9 casinos(?)start at Atlantic club(cheapest gaming besides trump plaza) and make your way to revel. On sunday use ur free parking transfer and go to the marina and check out golden nugget/borgata/harrahs

I havent played at trop but its not the best from what i read here.

To save money check out dayyss inn boardwalk or beachblock(would have to walk to boardwalk) or econolodge(behind trop)

Download the "Living Social" app and search deals....They have great discounts for casino rates along the boardwalk - have fun!
