he said something about somebody stealing his bag and he wondered if he could use my phone. i felt like i could take him down if he made a run for it, so i said sure. (probably a bad move.) he made 3 calls really fast. his hands were shaking a lot. while he was making the calls he was asking if i worked in bkk and if i was just on vacation.
then he starts into talking about money transfers and western union. he asked me if i had a bank account. i said no. basically he was wanting me to take out money from an atm and give it to him so he could pay for his flight. which makes no sense because if he had i flight, why would he need more money? then he was saying he was going to send me a western union tomorrow when he got to germany so he could pay me back. he also said something about online money transfers. when he went into his rant about transfers i made sure to grab my phone even though he didn't look like he was done with it.
he said something about going to the german embassy but it was closed. do embassies even close?
he is about 6 feet tall, skinny, with short brown hair. watch out.

i'm ashamed to admit i gave this very guy 1000 baht. i was in a hurry (same place, ~subway by phrom pong across from benjasiri) and i swear he was crying, tears down his eyes, everything. i walk home that way nearly every day and have yet to see him again. he will not enjoy the day that i do.
i took "his phone number" and of course when i called it later it was the number for topping up credit. in that fleeting moment i was like hey, if i'm ever totally screwed like this i would want someone to help me. obv regretted 5 mins later.
i generally walk a distance from that stretch when i walk home so if i see him i can approach him from behind and "politely" ask to borrow 1000 baht. good to know he's still around.
