LOL I'm a sang som drinker and your right it does give some pretty wicked hangovers. Not done the mekong whiskey thing yet apparently that is pretty bad but I don't really like whiskey so will avoid it.

Was in Myanmar recently and drank the local mandalay rum there, tasted pretty nice but even after only 4 or 5 of them you could feel it the next day!

Things is, given that it was 40 baht, I may have actually taken a drink, thinking it was just really bad tasting / strong (I like to try new things), so I'm glad they told me.
it's rum bottles

My mistake, I don't make a habit of drinking whiskey or rum - get terrible hangovers and a bad high - would much rather beer or better drugs.

Because they're easy to come by I guess.

I checked and haven't received anything so i messaged him about it, he deletes me on fb and money never shows up to my account.

I don't get how you guys are so ******ed about this sort of stuff. Meet in person, exchange cash, easy game. Alternatively, have him send it via Fedex and give you a copy of the receipt including duty taxes paid in advance for the phone. Not perfect, but still much less chance of getting ripped off this way.

lol - the guy didn't even have 100 posts... zzz...

Next time you see a ridiculously good price for something (like the iphone) examine it in person in a public place before you pay for it. I figured something was up with the phone because it's worth considerably more than the asking price and you'd have no problem selling it to a mobile phone shop for more.
02-20-2012 , 08:24 AM
wat someone bought the phone without seeing it?

This is going to be a semi-off topic rant, but just like the banking world, the Poker economy now more than ever depends on tons of small "loans" to help with liquidity: whether it's trading money w/ someone or buying an iPhone and sending first.

Obviously giving low-to-middle-income Americans million dollar houses and mortgages was a bad loan, sending 5k first to an unknown with no references was a bad loan, and buying an iPhone off 2p2 without properly vetting references was most likely a bad loan too that you might end up writing off.

To save the USA from absurd economic collapse the Fed forced healthy banks to accept loans, in effect forcing them to in turn loan out more money to people and keep everything liquid.

Let's not throw the baby out with the bathwater. There are good loans and bad loans in everything. Certainly sometimes it makes perfect individual sense to send first or lend money, and it's absolutely a net positive for the poker economy.

Give the name of the guy !!!! what is phone number ? give all the information you have !!

hope you learn to dont trust ramdom 2+2 person

I'm not saying to blindly trust a random, but obviously klink also sent $100 first w/o thinking much of it. The problem was him not outing it when the guy went incommunicado.

I don't get all the LOLs about how you should never send $80 to buy an iPhone of 2p2 first, esp for that transaction the buyer almost always sends first. Obv do some research first but things like people selling THB for stars, etc. where both sides benefit and the poker economy stays as liquid as possible is extremely important. Unfortunately for many of us without neteller this now requires someone to "loan" (send first) the money out.
02-20-2012 , 10:53 PM
nah im not that dumb obv made him send first

10+ posts or 10,000+ posts. Hmmm, guess the 10,000+ posts guy should send first!

klink didn't send him any money and he came to warn people when he noticed what the guy did. good job imo

i do get the LOLs. this guy has no posting history on 2+2, nobody came to vouch for him nor did he say he even knows any 2+2ers/poker players in CM. and nobody has seen the phone(or him). i don't even know if i would buy the phone if i saw it live if the guy is complete random. who knows where it came from (if he even had it?)

that's way beyond "a bad loan"

and it's not all about posts. as an example "cmason" has 10 posts on 2+2 but dozens of ppl know him in bkk and would prob come vouch for him if anyone needed that to make the stars to baht exchange (this wasn't a vouch btw as i have met the guy only couple of times but that's what i expect to happen if anyone asked )
02-21-2012 , 04:32 AM
on the other news i sent these guys money for the 30" dell last week

let's see if that turns out to be a "bad loan"

well i wasn't talking about the deal itself like you probably know

and for some 5% isn't a bad deal if it means instant cash on hand

I dunno, I consider 5% vig to basically be a scam in and of itself, so I dunno Also, Payday Advance loans at 500% annual compounded daily or w/e might not be a bad deal either, if you literally have someone with a gun to your head demanding money that you don't have. Doesn't mean it's not a scam.
