Tell me where to go! Tell me where to go!

I've decided to take 4-6 months out of poker to go travelling around the world. My budget would be around £15-20k ($25,000 - $30,000)

I would like to get to see quite a few different countries so I wouldn't want to spend TOO much time in a particular country.

Sorry if I've bored you already.

Any suggestions?

You can plan routes like:
Sri Lanka -> India -> Nepal -> Bangladesh. Then go to Southeast Asia (Burma -> Laos -> Thailand -> Vietnam -> Cambodia -> Malaysia -> Singapore -> Indonesia -> Philippines) + Macau

Next fly to Russia and stay here forever

I Would not start with Sri Lanka -> India -> Nepal -> Bangladesh if you have never been traveling in these types of countries before, there going to be full on.

not really traveling around the world if all the places you visit are in south and southeast asia. also seems like to many places for the timeframe (ok, i guess he said he doesn't want to spend much time at one place)

i would say something like:
1) eastern europe (prague, budapest and places like that. maybe throw in istanbul at the end)
2) southeast asia (vietnam, cambodia, thailand)
3) new zealand
4) canada (or maybe some place in south america if that interests you)

spend 1 or 2 months in each of the regions. obviously there are endless possibilties but since you didn't give any preferences i just tell what i would like to do

4-6 months is not enough time for a world trip and 1-2 months not enough time for a region. If a 6 month trip I wouldn't recommend going to more than 2 continents, better off sticking with one imo

Europe and SEAsia trips with this kind of time frame are ideal

You could do pretty much all of Europe and SEAsia in 6 months, go to Europe first its more expensive then go to SEAsia and live it up

depends on how extensively you want to travel each place. obviously it is possible to visit 2-3 eastern european cities in a month or take a round trip on the south island of new zealand (more diverse and interesting than the north island imo).
but i agree that most travellers would prefer to take more time at each place and i'm definitely one of them.
