me and a girl would like to take a short trip (10 days) to some beach somewhere. we'd both like to learn to surf. i have surfed once (and suck) and she has never surfed. pretend money is no issue, but travel time is (so nothing in bali or south africa where 1/3rd of our vacation will be spent in airports/airplanes, we are in the pacific northwest). bonus points for places that are laid back and relatively quiet. even more bonus points if there's good hiking nearby. thanks.

playa grande CR 10min beach walk to tourist filled tamarindo.their are several nice b&b's and my favorite restaurant in the world(best surf/turf i have eaten -10$us)...and the surf is perfect for beginners as its a beach break...oh and their is a alligator infested estuary that separates playa grande from jam packed tamarindo so it can often feel as if you are on your own private beach. a local can take you across the estuary in a boat for 2bucks.
gogogogo i am a novice surfer and this place is perfect.
