I'm heading to Prague in Feb and was also curious about golf courses. I did a quick google search and seems there are 2 or 3 in Prague but any further info would be great.

You need a golf license to play. I'm not positive of the process, but I believe there is a general test ensuring you know the rules and etiquette of the game.

Interesting fact: during much of Communism, the only place where golf courses were allowed to be built was Czechoslovakia. As a result, the Czech Republic, which is slightly smaller than South Carolina, has over 50 courses.

Re: Prague

weeee getting in on thursday, staying at a 1 bedroom place found through airbnb. Tried alot of other websites and while some seemed decent, anyone who would rent short term wanted to charge pretty large commissions plus taxes. For multiple months going through an agency could be a better deal. Looks like most decent studio/1 bedrooms are ~$750/mo thru airbnb and ~$950+ thru agencies. Splitting a place with roommates would def be a better option, but I'm only staying a month to open bank account and GTFO of dat cold!

Setting up a bank is very easy, and as far as I know poker winnings aren't taxed here.

Re: Prague

you guys realize there is life outside Prague 1 don't you? my advise is to spend as little time in Prague 1 as possible if you want to experience Prague. and with one of the world's best public transportation systems, it is very easy to do so.

Good to know. Me and a few friends have already got a place in Prague 1 but what other areas would you suggest for daytime and nighttime stuff?

Re: Prague

Do you guys know how long I can stay in Czech Rep as an American without a Visa? I've not really gotten a definitive answer on this from anyone ... After the 90 days is up, can I just take a flight to a nearby country then fly right back and do another 90 days?

Definitely, and I might know a few more people who'd be interested as well.

Prague 2, 3, 5, 6 and 7

Specifically, parts of Smichov, Dejvice, Holesovice, Nove Mesto, most all of Vinohrady and parts of Zizkov (especially near Vinohrady, for example the area by Palac Akropolis).

No, you can't do this. This isn't Costa Rica or Argentina. Read up on travel for Americans in the Schengen Area.

Re: Prague

Hello there.

I'm a Norwegian who's considering "moving" to Prague.
My address will still be in Norway, so I guess formally I will be "visiting" the Czech Republic.

For how long would I be allowed to stay, and after that for how long would I have to leave the country?
I've only found some rules for Americans, but it might be different for me who is from a Schengen member country?

Re: Prague

hey,

i am also interested if there are rules regarding the period of your stay in Prague. how much are you allowed to stay? i am interested in staying 12months+ and am from Romania.

if you get by car there, any idea how much time are you allowed to keep the car with the RO license plates or you have to register the car w/ CZ plates?

what do you have to do in order to get bank accounts running in Prague?
i assume if you are to relocate to CZ and change location for poker sites you have to show them bank statements/utility bills that prove ur staying in CZ. would that be a problem when requesting utility bills from landlords or something?

do they ask what are you doing for a living or during ur stay in Prague? did u encounter problems when saying u gamble for a living?

thanks!

Re: Prague

ferd you're allowed to stay within the EU for as long as you want assuming you have an EU passport. Obviously they will not pay for you, but if you can support yourself they have no right to even ask why you are there.

Re: Prague

^^ wasn't that the main point of making the EU in the first place?

As a foreigner it was wayyy better before the EU as we could stay in each country for 90 days - now that same limit applies to all of europe

Is the 100 euro shuttle to Kings Casino really the best way to get there? Seems so expensive

I know only poland, romania and the uk where we can stay as long as we want if we can support ourselves and even then one is to register after two months maybe latest if one is going to stay longer than 3 months. Though i know many think one could stay in up to every country here and is supposed to register for longer stay but not all do even that.

And there is not any time limit anywhere much, but in the usa and so, as long as one can support oneself one gets to stay longer based on earnings, savings, pension, though that is not so necessarily even in these places if one is not from the eu, but could be.

The reason why i looked into this is that prague simply doesnt look like the best option, and could think only the free poker but is czech republic regulated or free? The weather, no sea. The only other reason for the pick seems to be its location between west and east here, if one lives near.

The point from the very beginning was peace due the experiences from WW2.
The four freedoms, where all this is included, came later.
