Yo, As a Portuguese myself, I'd advice you to open the account in ceska sporitelna, I didn't have to show any adress proof, and online service works quite well, and the bank account fees are free for the first 6 months, also you can deposit minimum of 100kr ( 4 euros) and already have the document to send to Stars and be able to play from the first day you open the account.

Your welcome.

Used this place several times and it easily has the best rates of any exchange.

But you can't count on 10/20 live to live, the 25/50 I've seen was with old guys/business men so probably a good game as well.

There is a lot of live games in Rozvadov, and many friends have told me it's soft games.
Correct. Tournaments are quite playable, cashgame in Prague is not so soft but thanks to tourists it gets a lot softer in the evening or the night and 25/50 is a little bit tougher (regs). Rozvadov is easier than Prague, at least cashgame at basic 1/3€ is. More in my poker blog if you are interested.

Thanks!

I don't know about the site (probably AirBNB, sreality.cz, expats.cz and such), but for a location I'd recommend Praha 2 since it's close to Wenceslas Square where is the most CG action going - the flat could be like 20 minutes from there.

http://www.flatinprague.com/ is another site that offers short-term rentals. There or airbnb will probably be the best options.

Hey everyone!

Just arrived in Prague and will be staying for a couple of weeks. It was all very spontaneous and quick, so I booked the airbnb apartment I'm staying in <24 hrs before my flight.

Anyways, I'm here alone, and will be looking to play quite a bit of poker while I'm here - so it'd be great to meet up with other poker players for a beer etc., the usual. Lmk if anyone's around/up for anything.

Where have people been playing ?

I came last November and had a blast. I played mainly @Ambassador Hotel (VIP Praha casino ?? ) I liked the free drinks and free food even if it was Small. I also liked When place was full, I could hit up the Goldfingers Strip club .... Lol

I thought the games were nice l Lots of agro regs that thought oh look a tourist on holiday. I was happy I made decent profit for the short time I played each day.

I'm looking to plan a December trip since the EPT Prague will be at Kings Prague, not Rozvadov this time.

Sorry for commentary, was just checking in on how the action is.

Actually, Ambassador has the largest cashgame in Prague, only Rozvadov is bigger :-)

Regs are kind of tough, but not that tough as they think, you can also work with your tourist image, they don't deviate much from straightforward fish exploiting game.

There is supposed to be CashGameFestival.com in Prague at December too.

Oh that's great. Yea, Ambassador was fun, was curioys if anything new or something I missed when i was last there.

Yes i did exploit my tourist image. Kept stacking some of the regs, I had fun. They would try and push constantly with air. It was easy to spot it.

Oh great news on possible cash game festival.

I knew Rozvadov had biggest name recognition but it was nowhere near me in Prague in my trip plus I was thete primarily as a tourist. My understanding is the EPT Prague this year will be at Kings-Hilton in Prague vs Kings Rozvadov.

Thanks for the info

It's actually just Hilton's rented hall, King' did have a small presence in Corinthia Hotel for a while, but it didn't work. There is a casino in Hilton, with 1 or 2 tables of NLH 50/100 every night, basicaly the best Prague's CG players.

I you have a car at your disposal, Rozvadov is like a candy store comparing to Prague, there are some good regs too, but cashgame is more lucrative and definitely easier, especially at 1/3€.

Thanks for the update. When I wemt last year, I tried to research ahead of time and I also tried to ask people (most were clueless as to other places to play besides Ambassador). I heard ablht Showdown but never went as someone said it was Limit holdem, so i so I didnt bother.

I tried to ask about the Hilton if there were games but didnt get much of a response so I just stuck to what I had found, the ambassador and I had fun. The trip was for fun. At least 1 of the nights the wait was lobg so I was already drunk, went down to goldfingers. Decided to waste all my profit just about from the 1st night (a couple hundred).

The only stakes they had at ambassador when i was there was 25/50 and 10/20 ckz...but at least they played bigger.

Unfortunately I will not have a car. I like to drink and not worry about driving. Just took taxi's and didnt mind the cost. I dont go on vacation and want to complain. It is what it is, just pay and enjoy the time. Last time.I was with family and we did Prague/Vienna/Budpeast sp it was a long 10day trip.

In December I'm thinking of Berlin & Prague. I want to play the EPT prague or cash games then.

So the Hilton still has no Limit cash games?

Rozvadov I'm sure is a poker Paradise comparatively to downtown Prague.

I will see, maybe I will take a bus or taxi (does Prague do Uber)? Isnt it like 1 hr away or something??

I wish there was an updated site that kept tourist/poker players in the know of what is and isnt available pokerwise.

Maybe you can start one? Lol

Thanks for the info my friend

Man, I did, it's my Poker in Prague blog :-)

I'ts up to date, I was playing at most of the places (not at Banco, but 5 - 7 players is not really much).

I hope you are good, because Hilton is tough, you can count like 7 regs and 1 fish or something, except the Poker Travel events - then it gets actually very easy (against tourists of course).

Showdown is actually quite active, 1 - 3 tables every day, mostly NLH 10/20 but with a lot of straddles. Problem is, there is no fun there, no tourists, just Czech regs with no sense of humor and no appreciation when you give them your money (no fun for the fish).

Ambassador is a lot more fun at 10/20, 25/50 or 50/100 is dominated by the second best regs in Prague, but still playable.

I like Rozvadov the most, you can relax and to make some money, no gloomy faces, almost no Czech players. It's under 2 hours even from the centre of Prague, they have a shuttle, but it costs like 100€, maybe the Uberlike idea is not bad at all. Anyway, you can make that money back quite easily, the average stack at 1/3 is 200€ or more.

Wow, I will definitely check out your blog, sorry I didnt know.

I am decent player mainly 2/5 NL & used to play 5/10NL.

On my trip last year, I wasnt there to make money but I did, about $1500 in 3 days, only played like 4 hrs each day.

Also made better scores in Vienna (@Montesino Wien) & Budapest (@Lurdy Haz).

Yea whiny reg grinders can be no fun. At least be fun, even if your a grinder.

I like to play against better players. It is usually easier believe it or not. Position, chip stacks, table dynamics(is it loose or passive..how is my tabke image) ,getting cards of course, history with players, never showing cards (no free info ever).

I will try it out at Hilton and if I get crushed go back to Ambassador or take a day trip Rozvadov. 100€ not surprised of it's 2 hrs...I best get the money back..lol.

Last year I was there in end of Nov, so I was there before EPT Prague happened by like 2 wks early.

I thank you for all the info you have shared with me.

Hey Just read your blog, great info. Had me laughing aboht the smoke. I definitly was shocked how many people can be chimneys in such a small area. 1 sweedish guy smoked 50 in a row. I was like come up for air. He goes oh should I stop now? I laughed and said it doesnt matter now. I smell like an ashtray, plus he was playing horrible. I felt like I should help when I wasnt in the pot vs him. He woukd just keep C betting then check fold the river and the czech reg would just auto bet and take it every time. I was like dude, try to trap for once..lol

It was 50/100 and he got stacked like 6 or 7 times.

Also, did Ambassador stop giving free alcoholic drinks because dont recall paying, i did tip.

I think the bald floorman with the mustache was sick of me, i never shut up..lol.

I will try out that app you recommended Poker Agent. I have only used Poker Tracker Income Bankroll Tracker to date.

Oh, Poker Agent is great, I am in contact with the author - the guy is a an older university teacher with serious math background :-) What I love about the app is that it contains so many features, even the photo of your more regular opponents, easily obtained when everyone is fiddling with their phones all the time...

You are right about the smoke (welcome to the East Europe), we don't like it, they don't ban it, but when you ask players are usually quite considerable like your guy. What is more typical for poker clubs in Czech Republic, you don't find good aircondition anywhere except Rozvadov, not even in new buildings (the probably didn't expect people gathering there or so). In Ambassador AC usually works (but the smoke stays), Hilton is on the edge, Showdown is a heat hell, as well as Kajot and Rebuy Stars.

Ambassador is the model for floorman and dealer rudeness, there are so many tourists, they don't feel the need to act politely. I often feel ashame for their behaviour to guests, regs are of course more like their friends. Dealers are irritated when tourists make beginners mistakes, floormans are often ignoring newcomers, it's just so immature. Still, the most active CG spot, so what can we do, and the most profitable in Prague...

Glad you are a good player, you can probably confirm the CG in Prague is not that easy. Hilton could suit you in case you are going to act like a tourist, our regs don't bluff very often and value bet all the time, you can make a nice profit outbluffing them. Beware, you can meet best Czech poker players there since it's their everyday job, obviously. At least the stuff is professional.

WIN casino level could be challenging, maybe right for you - good players and higher stakes. Still Ambassador is piece of cake comparing to these two above, the right mix is at 25/50 and 50/100 later in the night, you can probably beat it most of the time.

There is one important difference - 2/5 level in Czech Rep is full of very good regs, don't confuse it with 2/5 in Vegas, 25/50, 50/50 and 50/100 means you have to damn good to beat it here, pros everywhere...

P.S. The bald mustache guy is fine most of the time, just lazy :-)
