Hey guys,

I'm going to visit Thailand for the first time this summer with 3-5 friends. We want to start planning but not sure where to start. Some things on our mind:

Where should we stay? We were thinking of Phuket. We want to stay at a resort...are there multiple beaches or just one? Where do the Westerners stay? Which hotel should we stay at? Are there any better options than hotels? We're gonna be in Thai 3-4 weeks, and we were thinking if we get bored of Thai we'd just take a boat ride to another island?

Which is the best month to go btw? Any difference if we go in May as opposed to April?

Anything feedback/comment is appreciated, we're pretty clueless.

The most popular thread in the travel forum is a good place to start with these questions.

Heya, been in thailand a few times, one of my favorite countries. I personally prefer bangkok though. Can't say anything about hotels unless you give us a budget. In general you have a good 3 star for like 5-600 but a 5 star one quickly adds a few grand.

Beaches are everywhere, but some of them can be a bit dirty. best thing in thailand is the food, the people, the street markets and the malls. you can take a bus to cambodia fairly easy, or get a cheap flight to malaysia. I was fine for a month in bangkok though, with 2 trips out, 1 to pattaya and 1 to some weird elephant village/tiger temple.

Season... depends on your preferences. April might be ***** hot. late may/june will be better imo. GL.

There no beach in BKK.

38k bahts (1.5k cad), not enough for a month if you're there with friends for drink/party/activities/beach.

Rent alone is 500b per day for hotel (for very basic accomodation), so 15k for 1 month.

That leave you 23k for 30 days for everything else. Food 500b per day, so another 15k gone.

That leave you 8k, you can easily spend that with drinks in bar, so that leave you with 0 and you haven't done any activities, transportation, **** hooker, etc.

Even been conservative: 10k in food, 5k in bar, that would leave you 8k for activities, taxi, hooker, etc.

There just no way you can make this trip for a month for 38k bahts.

I'm in Chiang Mai right now, back in October I was here with a friend, I spend around 2k can in one month in CM during that month. We did not drink, or **** hooker, that would have add another $500. Right now obv i'm alone here (with thai GF), so it cost me way less.

1.5k ca is the budget for people living there (who are on a budget), if you're a tourist ull get scam with price, and spend much more because well you're here to have fun and not think too much about price.

So id say, to be confortable for one month, you need between 2.5k and 3k can (i'm considering that you're not going Niorth Thailand). For 3 weeks, cut 25% of those numbers.

Transportation + Rent + Foods + Activities + Bar + (hooker if you're into that, but even without hooker) + stuff that you might buy + everything else that ull need to spend on = more then 1.5k can, you won't get to match that budget EXCEPT if you give up on bars and drink and accept the fact that you won't go to nice farang restaurant that cost you more then 200-300b for a meal.

Pattaya would be a better option then if you just want beer and hookers.

I was with my wife, so we only went 1 night there.
