Hey Everybody,

I am living since 12 month with 2 German room mates in an apartment in Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon) Vietnam. We do have a "non-baller" 240m² penthouse (5 bedrooms, 5 bathrooms - vnese standard) in District 7 which is about 15 scooter min. away from District 1 and the tourist/backpacking/party locations. One of our room mates will leave to go to Danag and therefore we are looking for a new room mate.

The rent+utilities is pretty cheap, about $350-400 per month/person ($300+util) and we have a maid cleaning and preparing standard lunches for us 6 days a week.

We, the two that want to stay, are both German and NL 6max cash game players and we would appreciate another cashgame TAGfish in our place who wants to experience Vietnam for at least 3 month (3 month single/multiple entry tourist visa is easy to get and easy to extend for another 3 month). If you are not a TAGfish you are still welcome... besides you play Badugi for a living... then go and f.... yourself!

It does not matter for us where you are from, what you look like or what religion you have - you should be open minded and friendly like us and enjoy poker!

If you are interested to get more information please send me a PM with your details and Skype nick and I contact you!

We might even have a great opportunity for USA players to play on European sites, without any cashout problems.... So forget about your Black Friday worries and start enjoying Poker again along with a new experience in a new and really nice country!

How hard is it to open a bankaccount?

Bank account:

I have tourist visa and could open a bank account at HSBC bank without any problems. I have a debit card and can transfer money from any foreign country onto my account and withdrawl money at any ATM here in Vietnam. HSBC allows me to have USD and EUR saving accounts, so that the high inflation rate does not really applies at all.

Pictures:

I will make a little video tomorrow or within the next 1-2 days and put it on youtube. As I said it is not baller like many of the high-stakes-vacation/poker houses and honestly our furniture sucks, but what do we do at home? We poker, we sleep or we go out and enjoy all the things this country has to offer! So I got a bed on the floor, a big desk and my computer stuff here, that's it.

Internet:

We have two ADSL connections that run awfully slow at the moment, it has been better 2-3 months ago but they had problems with a over sea cable or something. Still it is possible to play poker, but downloading movies and stuff is a pain (but you can buy all stuff in little illegal shops for $1-2).

Vietnam vs. Thailand:

I was in Bangkok for a few days and I hated it. All you see is ugly fat old man with barley legal beautiful Thai girls. Sure, everybody has his own opinion about it, but I would like to go to all those basterds and hit them with the baseball bat. I could not walk down the street for 100m (we were 2 guys 2 girls, all foreigners) without prostitues trying to flirt with me... uh, I was so happy being back in Vietnam!

Here in Vietnam is way less tourism and there are not as many prostitues (only in the tourist hotspots, but that are like 3-4 clubs out of hundert other options). It is a cheap country where you can have a really good life for under $1000/month if you are not expecting to life "baller". The food is good, the women are traditional and beautiful and the weather stays stable all year long - no pants needed, just bring your shorts!

Traveling within the country is really great. Many excisting locations and well organized trips to travel all over the country.

I post the youtube link as soon as I have the video uploaded.

Oh, totally forgot.

Just in theory: I could imagine that some people from the USA that do have problems to play poker for a living right now because of Black Friday might be able to get to know some European guys that would be able to open accounts under their own names to have their friends from the USA playing over those accounts.

(puh, complicated sentence)

Terrible idea. Just asking to get the account locked/seized or have the guy who's name it is in decide to steal the entire balance for himself.

Once Americans move out of the US, they can play on almost any site in the world. I have active accounts on Full Tilt, Party, and Everest.

Ah ok, I was not aware of the fact that US citizen can unlock their accounts when they are moving to another country.

Video is uploading at the moment, unfortunately my old camera does not have a great video quality and my German accent sucks big times... so hope you can understand me.

While waiting for the video you can check www.anyarena.com to see some of the nightlive events and what the girls look like (if girls are interesting for you).

Enjoy!

Video:

1. Our flat is quite empty atm, we consider to buy a few things if we find some nice new room mate, eg. new television with some consoles or stuff for a chill-out area, plants, etc. The thing is, if we do not find a new room mate, we are going to move into a smaller 3 bedroom arpartment here, because there is no need for 240m² with 2 ppl for us.

2. The videoquality sucks a bit, it looks way more foggy than it is and I was shaking too much - blame the alcohol of last night.

Here the link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eq12c3Z0YRc

A few words about the two that will stay, I am Chris and 31 years old but not an old grumpy man yet, play NL100€ cashgame and looking to improve a lot at the moment, to move up to NL200€ sooner or later, I am quite easy going and fun, dance Salsa here in HCMC and know tons of people. Most of the people I know are Vietnamese and I like to learn more about the country and culture instead of hanging out in the overpriced tourist places. The other room mate is Joe who is 22 years old, also playing cashgame but mostly NL200€-NL1k€ (depending on the action), he is also a nice guy and normally goes out with his gf or together with me.

We would like any potential room mate to have a little skype conversation with us, just to know if we could be good room mates, because we want to have a lot of fun and no stress here in our flat.

Hey there,

I have lived in HCMC for almost 6yrs and have played online for a while but since the Black Friday in US i have been screwed. i just set up another pokerstars account with my vietnam address and need to get a little $ on stars.

Do either of you play on Pokerstars or the iPoker network (titan poker) i am trying to find someone that can transfer $50 or so to my account....

Thanks

Also for the other readers....

I have lived here for 6yrs in Vietnam and its a piece of cake to open a bank account.

i would advise against keeping alot of $ in your bank here because they always are trying to get their cut(tax) of income on you work and would be easy to follow the transactions of the bank since they all are run basically by the government however the banking system has opened up to many more foreign bank to enter the market.

You can play online no problems other then occasional power outages. Internet is pretty good here just don't use a wi-fi network because you will have to much packet loss and hesitation while multi-tabling.

Cheers
