There's a thailand thread already but I thought I'd make a new one just dedicated to BKK nightlife.

I have been a few times but I haven't really had the chance to fully explore the city's nightlife.

BKK nightlife is rated as one of the best in the world but what your personal favs/recommendations.

There's the P2P scene in Nana/Cowboy and the FL clubs like Levels/Climax/Mixx.

But what about the local discos for just having fun. Are the clubs in Thong Lo/Ekkamai worth going to? What about RCA?

The ones you mentioned are your best bet, there are also the less known ones where mostly just thais go (more on the outskirts, or near universities far out). I'm guessing at those you'll either be treated like a superstar or feel like you're gonna get beat up. Ekkamai/Thong lo is the more hiso crowd so if your goal is to get laid, it's gonna be much harder there. The alternatives are like you said RCA; route66 there's a lot of farang hunters there, the crowd is a mix of farangs and thais nowadays (at least on friday/saturday). Onyx is an EDM club at RCA which is more upscale and mostly upper class thais, the few times I went it was really packed, and in that situation the setup is not ideal. In the Silom area, there is a fancy club called Cé La Vie, plays mostly the top-20/dance type songs and most people there are well off tourists/expats and thais.

just tell the taxi driver silom soi 4. it has everything you're looking for.

i'd probably just drop the charade of trying to pick up normal girls and go to gogos. if you luck out you can then go to Levels/Climax/Mixx to find a freelancer. i'd also consider khao sahn late at night if you're a younger farang. don't stay there of course.
