I can't find any articles on living in Panama-City.
Can anyone tell me how it is? What the rent-prices are? How the pokergames are? Is it safe? What are the areas you want to live and which one you would rather avoid?

you couldn't find ANY articles on living in panama city???? we must be using an entirely different google. anyways it blows. ew don't live there. rent is too expensive. climate is too hot. so many little scams everywhere, live poker is a joke with huge rake. Nightlife can be pretty great, although expensive. Pan para hoy, hambre para manana - is basically Panama's national slogan. City is filthy which is a shame because even 30 years ago it was fairly pristine before the mass construction, dumping, pollution, canal...

lived in panama for 5 years. like anywhere there are good and bad aspects.
as far as live poker goes forget it. as boliver said rake is sky high and they also tax you when cashing in chips.
rent - i was paying $1,400 per month for a 1 bed apartment 99sqm unfurnished in the best part of town (punta pacifica)
nightlife is pretty good and there are lots of good restaurants but its expensive and hot as hell. i now live in medellin which i much prefer.

panamanian government charges 10% tax on ALL cashouts from casinos; doubt there is viable live poker even without this, with this there is definitely not. moderately cheap whores though.

It's around 4 prct. And in the pokerrooms the host will give you back your buyins. You get to pay tax only over your profits that night.

5 percent would be OK if rake was lower but by reading here its higher
