K2D I'm scared to sleep with any girl in SE Asia now. You have probably slept with at least half.

Does anyone have any pointers on getting bananas in Hanoi? Last time I was there I got some bananas from moto bike drivers but they were brown and old. I'm looking for ripe ones.

you can pretty much exchange money at any jewelry store/gold shop. the rates are about the same everywhere and the vig is pretty low. a few guys go to the new world hotel casino to exchange money and there is no vig there. youll need a foreign passport to get into the new world casino though.

i can swap dong for BoA if you are going to be in HCMC.

you are going to need to sign up for the gym before the pumping of the iron begins

There are 2 money exchanges on Dong Khoi street in D1 near the opera house. There is also one on the bottom floor of Diamond Plaza. I believe they follow the official exchange rate. New World and jewelry shops may offer slightly better than the official rate (but I'm not sure). Jewelry shops will probably only accept crisp new bills (preferably 100s).

Info for those who may not know yet or thinking of how a withdraw would work in VN.

Bank fees for me when a cash out is done is 15 euros disappearing from the amount I withdrew. I hear it sometimes is 2x15 depending on how the bank handles it. Than I get charged 2 + 0.60 euros for each withdraw for fees. Charged only once if I withdraw it all at once.

If you would withdraw 5,000 usd, that equates to PS giving you 3,740 euro. I than exchange to VND. The exchange rate is roughly 600dongs less per euro than what the world states. The banks exchange, you lose like 2.2 million vnd which is a little over 100usd.

Now my question is, what is the most you ever withdrew/had deposited into your VN bank account from poker? I ask because I have no idea if there is an amount where you get flagged in VN. Like in the USA, the govt gets notified for every amount over 10,000 usd or does VN even care as long as its money coming in?

Im pretty sure you are doing it wrong.

I dont know where you are banking but at my bank (ANZ bank on le duan street) I do not pay any fees upon receiving online poker money. Also you should definitely not cashout to a VND account but have a EUR or USD account to receive the funds.
When I withdraw VND cash from my foreign currency accounts I do not pay any fee (when withdrawing in a foreign currency you have to pay a 0.15% fee on the amount though) and the exchange rate is good, the same as the "official" one.

For your other question, I have made several mid 5 figures cashouts from pokerstars in the past 2 years and never had any problems. My bank officer knows very well this is poker money and thats not an issue at all. As she told me, when you are a foreigner as long as money is coming in and not out nobody is ever going to bother you.

I dont know what is available as cashouts from PS but from what I gather it was only euro in VN. I wanted to do it in usd but I couldnt find a way to. If it is, please elaborate to me.

I rather have vnd compared to euro when this was over a year ago because of the whole euro crises but i guess its over and the euro been decent/strong. I lost the 600 dongs per euro because i changed it to vnd when I could have just gotten euro. My bank is a non major bank so i saw it as acceptable for the exchange rate.

I rem reading about how you did your poker account which you deposited a large amount to start the account which entitled you to a vip representative. Pls correct me if I am wrong. I had to go through the difficult route with high vig deposit as I had no way to get the money out of VN to PS and didnt have a large amount to deposit to start. I only had to deposit 50 euros to start an account to deposit onto poker. I could have gone with a different bank when I withdrew. That was my mistake.

My main issue was how to deposit to Poker which wasn't easy for me at all. Once I did, I stuck with the same bank which charged more than major banks. So that was my mistake. Thank you very much. I think i got a better grasp of it.

I will change my withdraw method and now there is no concern to break down withdraws as I know VN only cares for outgoing monies.

Like i always stated before. If anyone wants to be able to deposit money into poker with minimal amount with high vig without going through trades, pm me and I will explain how. I just dont want to post it and it being widely known and it ending up being closed due to abuse. [ I was lucky enough to only have to deposit once, no idea if my way is still feasible, my initial deposit was over a year ago.]

If anyone knows how to open a bank account and withdraw in usd in VN please let me know. I tried this initially and when PS sent money to my usd VN bank account it was in euro which caused problems. I gathered PS only sends euro to VN.

Thanks alpha

*edit* after some calculations your 0.15% foreign money exchange equates to 400 dongs so my 600 dongs is not to far off for a small bank

also my 15 euro lost was due to some intermediary bank charge which I think is normal which I am lucky to only have one I believe. I will look into AZN bank and see if i can save that charge.

I dont know where you got information but I am 100% sure it is possible to withdraw money from ps.com and have it credited in USD or EUR in a vietnamese bank account, I have successfully done both before. You just need to have receiving accounts in USD or EUR which are very easy to open in international banks. Oh, and obviously you need to send USD from ur online account if you want to receive USD in ur bank!! Thats very easy to switch between EUR and USD from the pokerstars software.

You should not care too much about the euro crisis, the risk is already included into the exchange rate. Long term it is definitely safer to keep EUR or USD rather than to keep VND.

To me its pretty obvious your main problem is banking with a ****ty viet bank, just close your account there and open an account into a major international bank. I bank with ANZ but HSBC will perfectly do too.

When I opened my account 2 years ago I first deposited a little cash at the opening and then I wired online poker money. I had quite a bit of troubles at first because my bank officer did not understand much of anything (and once she screwed up big time). At some point when I had over 50k$ equivalent in my accounts I got upgraded to a so-called VIP level and switched to a much more competent bank officer (who by the way is in her late 20's, kind of hot, very funny, and single once she even asked me if had nice friends for her to meet!). Once I got here to take care of my accounts I never had any problems.

Ive asked a couple of times and it is my understanding that its impossible to wire money from a Vietnamese bank to a pokersite just because the pokersite is a company and not a personal account. And by vietnamese law it is forbidden to send money to a foreign company unless you have an invoice (and even then you would have to fill lots of forms) wich obviously a pokersite cannot provide. Thats the same problem I had when I went to Macau, I could not wire money directly to the casino because, once again, thats not a personnal account.

Depositing small amounts with a large vig is easy though, you just need a credit card! But obviously the amount you can deposit is very limited and you dont want to pay that kind of 5%+ fees.

Ok thanks Alpha.

Strange though. As my first attempt to set this all up, I sent usd, played in usd, had a receiving account in usd and when I did my first withdraw, it was sent in euro to my usd account. To which I opened an euro account and just did that.

After some research, I found that most 2+2 users had withdraws in Euro also so I figured it was the norm.

Ill ask PS about it. Much love. I hope one day I am able to do a 50k withdraw =)

"In your particular case, any Cheque or Wire Transfer cashout requests will have to be processed in EUR. That being said, you can choose to send your withdrawals to NETELLER or Skrill(Moneybookers) - which can be processed in USD."

Fast reply. So for some the option is available to get monies in usd and unfortunately for me, Im stuck with Euro.

going to HCMC in april for 6 days. mostly to see a new town / country, drinking / partying / food & then some nature / scenery
- hotel recommendations (probably d1, it seems nearly all hotels are there)? in the 50-100usd / night range is fine, unless you can really recommend something cheaper
- looking to make a 1-2 day trip somewhere outside of town. probably mekong delta or so. anything i should really do / not do? if possible, not suuuuper touristy.

so in general, read some about the city, but don't know a lot yet, just looking for more inputs. thanks!

As a response to the Cambo thread since its relevant here.

Vietnamese law states that unmarried couples are not allowed to stay together in a hotel. This goes for Vietnamese as well. Pretty much all 5 stars follows this because its partially owned by the gov't. Most 4 star follow this rule also but not all.

3 stars and below dont follow it on the most part. If they do, they prob just see you ask an easy mark to get an extra fee or room booked. Just ask before booking and you will be fine.

As for Dante, he wouldnt have to worry about all that. If he looks, he will be able to find a decent 10usd hotel. Some are dumps/have a bad smell due to the drain connected straight to the sewage. There are enough out there to make it not too difficult to find. So if you go that route, thats 300usd for the month.

finding a place like a apt or room for a month will obviously cost more for the month since its only one month. I had a friend who came here and paid 200usd for 1 month. Was a basic room but did the job. He knows he over paid but didnt want the hassle.

As for clubs and the sort. Avoid hostess bars/clubs because it will be out your price range period and the local ones is just for show. Majority of the girls will not go with you. Hostess is when you enter, get shown girls and they will sit with you.

Clubs/bars with freelancers will be fine. How Dantes pick up will work depends on the girl but it will be more difficult than Cambo/Thailand imo. Also avoid the main stream clubs. I just can't help to think it will be pointless but with Dantes relentlessness and determination to go at it for hours to find a good looking gal for a cheap price, he'll eventually strike gold.

Vn has a bad rap for it not being a good place for mongering is because they don't know where to go. Most stay only in the main tourist area where prices are high and have to rely on shady middlemen offering boom boom where they also get a cut which just increases the price. Def can find for a cheap price with them but most girls will have a bad/rush attitude.

As for massage boom boom, you will have to get the vip room for privacy. It will be up to you and the girl on the price. You dont really get to pick your girl unless you know her work number. If you dont like your girl, you can send for another one.

Korean brothels like i stated before will be no hassle boom boom, get to see a line up, pick your gal if you choose to stay and pay the a reasonable fee with no negotiations and you will get better service in bed.

There will be food availble in the really late night/ early morning but it will be slim pickings. Before bed you can just get a plate of food that will be okay to eat at room temperature.

I sugest going to ladies night on Tue @ Lush and Wed @ Velvet
will be plenty of moonlighters looking for some extra cash like 25usd.

**Dante, pm me the link/name of your sex tourist message board. Always interested in a good read.

lots of info thanks a lot, "overpaying" 200 usd for an apartment sounds good, you think it would be hard to find that?

as anywhere it would probably be a little rough at first but once i got the hang of it (meaning found a good girl or two) it should go fine

how do you go about finding the koreans?
