bkk
fly to chiang mai
fly to udon thani to get to vientiane.
at this point i'd spend the extra money and take vietnam airlines to phnom penh.
take bus to ho chi minh city.
fly to kuala lumpur
fly to jakarta

you can use a low-cost airline like airasia for all those routes except vientiane to phnom penh.

yes, but not on a low-cost airline. phnom penh to ho chi minh city is only a 6 hour bus ride. i hate buses but would just take the bus for that segment.

I wouldn't bother with Vientiane Dante, literally the most boring city I've ever been in. Eh well ok it has some good food and beer. Also if you can't find any non pros the hookers there are cheap, I mean cheap even by south east asian standards.

Ok I guess you could go there but if you do, just pass through, probably only one night, definitely no more than two.

combination of both....... im gonna stay in PI for another 6ish months and then will need a break from flakyness of non pro's, was already planning on going to thailand, cambodia and vietnam (maybe jakarta) and figure since i will be over there already and its so cheap to fly around i might as well see some other spots

any tips would be appreciated, just no buses or trains please, and if any flights will be really expensive please let me know so i can potentially scratch that part of the trip

Far as I know that's only if you buy the phone from a carrier and then only if the carrier locks their phones

so i am definitely being told on another forum by people who seem to know what they are talking about that phones will not get 4g lte unless they are "worldwide unlocked" and the cheapest worldwide 4g lte option is a "starmobile" for $365

the ****tier companies will have decent cheap 4g phones. had a huwaei I bought new in PP for $140, could prob find for $100 if you looked hard enough, or an older model for cheaper. Lost it within a week so forget model number. It should have worked worldwide but again didn't get to check.

I normally buy used phones. Dual SIM is another nice option to have as I get 2 different carriers in each country so I have backup, if for nothing else just so I'm not screwed mid-session if data runs out (which would happen to me 2 days after I bought a 3gb package in cambo and only played poker with. Same thing happens in vietnam).

and yea ppl in general are horrible when it comes to making sure you have a 4g phone, do ur research on everything yourself, rely on salespeople for nothing but negotiating better prices. Ur starmobile info is just wrong, bought galaxy s4 mini which is a fairly sick phone for like 330 euro. 4g/unlocked/blah blah and def not cheapest out there. Got an ASUS now which was a bit cheaper than my preferred samsung. I like it.
