If I were living in TJ full-time, I'd probably choose Agua Caliente for day-to-day livability, but there's others who have a much better idea of such.

Zona Rio seems fine, especially since the police appear to try and keep all the Zona Norte junkies West of the San Ysidro Border crossing (for the most part).

*Mostly sticks near Border, talking-out-of-ass a decent part of the range*

I'm also going to post this in the Rosarito thread since not many people watch this one.

My sister is walking across the San Ysidro to come visit me and I was wondering if anyone knew of a good place for me to tell her to meet me. Preferably a nice restaurant or a coffee shop that is close to the border cross.

Thanks

I've turned into the gringo who drives in/drives out every day , but been to this beer bar just off Agua Caliente 3 times in the past month pre-Xolos and everyone I've been with seems to have enjoyed it. Tons of beers from the World over and reasonable prices. Comfortable and casual spot to get your beer drank on. Common in SD, but not South of the Border.

Restaurant across the street, but haven't had a chance to go yet.

Finally hit that Crema y Verde place. Pretty much all the waitstaff speaks English, can get English menu if you ask. Beautiful/cool interior, the food's probably lost on me largely, but creative and ****ing delicious.

Tijuana beisbol:

30 peso ticket, 15 peso tacos, 20 peso beers. I'd pay the cover for the food/beer experience alone. Though the mascot/cheerleader combo was some kind of weird awesomeness.

I moved to Mexico a few months ago. Not for poker, although I just realized I can play anywhere I want now,.. that's handy..

I've only been into one bank here and they required a resident card to open an account.

Is it still possible to open bank accounts here without Residency? Perhaps with just an FMM, or less?

Secondly, which sites should I be looking at? I've been out of the game since black friday and am clueless about the landscape of poker sites these days. I main $10-$50 dollar NLHE STT's and MTTs, fwiw.

Thanks guys!

Hi there ,
I read some of the threads on Rosarito and TJ and i was wondering if anyone has any rooms available for rent.
I currently live in Vegas and playing live tournaments mostly although i wouldn't say that is where i derive most of my income from.
I find myself currently with my lease expiring at the end of July and lots of free time on my hands now that the WSOP is over.

what i am looking for is a room for 2 months beginning August 1st . I have not played online since Black Friday and would love it if someone can help with the process of getting set up again once i'm there.

i'm a very clean guy,in my 30's but look 25, i have a strong work ethic and am a non smoker, this will be mostly for work but some fun is not out of the question.

thank you very much all.

In celebration of an impending move to TJ for ~6 months, reviving this thread with some random Tijuana food (& beer) pron from the past year...

(Most of these are ~50-60% of what they'd cost in the States, and often better quality )

nice pics gramps! names of bars or restuarants in TJ near the stadium you'd recommended? I plan on going to the xolos game next friday (may 1). How much are tickets usually? looked all over google couldnt really find anything.

Ticketmaster.com.mx should start listing tix tomorrow for that game (1 week out for non-Xolos Pass holders). Think cheapest tix in GA (Cabacera Norte) go for close to 300? Will probably be a huge walk-up crowd and maybe a sellout by gametime with Xolos near top of standings.

They're both cab-ride distance from stadium, but I'd recommend either Telefónica Food Truck Park (Ocampo b/n 11th & Agua Caliente), or Verde y Crema followed by BCB across the street. Catching another cab from either is pretty easy.

The Chinese restaurant 2nd level of Walmart shopping complex is walking distance and has alcohol if close is mandatory, but can get that dining/drinking experience in States anytime.

That should be a dope atmosphere on the 1st, enjoy!!!

If you do it, do Tijuana to tour different food spots/styles. That's definitely worth the trip South if you do your research ahead of time.

If you speak no Spanish or aren't used to travelling out of the country it might be tougher/less comfortable, but still very doable.
