Re: Official Rosarito Thread
Can we get some photos of the insides of some of the places you guys are staying at? That would help give an idea of quality/price there in Rosarito.

It sounded pretty standard for how it is up here, a little more emphasis on the drugs than we have on the northern border crossings, and it's lame they wouldnt just let him U-turn and go back down (maybe they thought he missed the turn cuz he was high) but getting uber pissed doesn't do u any good. They hold all the cards.

been lurking this thread a while. just wanna thank you guys for the inspiration, information and good stories. my circumstance may allow me to give this a shot sometime next year. AllInNTheDark's quote best describes the accomodations i'd be looking to find. also, i'm in my mid 30s, anyone down there around my age?
i may have some specific q's for you guys about banking, internet and border stuff as my time hopefully draws near. but for now, just saying thanks.

I'll be in Rosarita tonight!
Anybody interested doing a MB for cash transfer? I'm looking to give 3-6k in cash and get it sent on moneybookers. Ideally this would happen late tonight or tomorrow.

Grunch.
I read on Pg. 1 a few people talking about moving to PV, did anyone do it? I'm renting a place for 6 weeks arriving just in time for New Years. Would love to get the low down on what's good.
Cheers

Re: Official Rosarito Thread
Does anyone down there have a USD bank account? And if so was it hard to setup moneybookers with no mail verification possible? Moneybookers was a bitch to open for me in Canada so not looking forward to doing it again, but with bills remaining in the US in USD MBers is the only way I know of to get USD from stars... Unless there are fair money converting places. The ones up here for USD to CAD werent very good rates.

Been here for the past few days and staying/grinding another week, it's incredible here right now. Super-cheap direct flights from SFO for anyone who lives in Norcal. Definitely considering setting up in Rosarito or PV in the future.
Cabo felt like the Vegas strip X2 in a lot of ways. PV seems like more of an antidote to the madness, despite being a decent-sized city.

Setting up a USD account seems like a bit of a pain but do-able. They want a utility bill in your name in order to set one up, as well as the lease and other required docs for a peso account. I set up my pesos account today and will be trying to set up a USD account early next week.
From what I understand about MB, making a 2k+ euro deposit and doing a phonecall with them will get you VIP status which is supposed to help immensely. That is what I will be attempting to do as soon as I get my USD account set up.

Well there's no PV thread so I just though some people in the same country at least might have an idea..

Yeah, that's what I'm looking for. I year or so ago I backpacked from Mexico city south to PDC and then spent a week in Cancun before flying home. I love Mexico but Cancun (and I imagine Cabo is the same) is just a playground for Americans. No vibe at all. It was all American hotel chains, American restaurant chains etc. Seems like most of the tourists were just there to drink and ****. I'm hoping PV will be a bit more chill and authentic.
If anyone does plan to go, and will be there in Jan/Feb, feel free to send me a PM.

Re: Official Rosarito Thread
Just curious... How many bank accounts do most of you keep going? Is there a specific way you've found to balance & benefit all your different budgets & expenses without crossing money or mingling profits. Also, to individuals with backers... Do they transfer money to you, your MB account, the sites themselves, etc? How quickly can you return monthly interests to them with the least amount of fees... I am still researching all options, but figured ask those that are making it work. Thank You.
Also curious... Any of these Mexican banks have online banking for between accounts. What type of fees may apply there? Those with paperwork & important documents (say passport); do you get lock/security boxes at the banks or are there private businesses or options for "security" purposes? Again, Thank You kindly...
