depends where you look. i paid $700/mo for a 6 month lease (nov-june) for a nice little 2br on the beach, about 15 miles from downtown ensenada. you'll probably need to know spanish to live there tho. prices are higher in rosa because its closer to the border and more touristy. there may be less wiggle room for negotiation, but its always recommended to try

Does anyone have any update on opening a mex bank account? I am SOL with Neteller so I set up my Skrill account and will be looking to attach it to a local bank account, if this is even possible or realistic anymore. Any info on what I would need, what banks are good, what kind of fees I will be looking at would all be super helpful, as all of this information feels next to impossible to find online. Thanks!

There are numerous banks in town that can help you open an account and link your Skrill with. I know Bancomer has customer service for those that don't speak spanish if that's an issue. The fees are gonna vary from bank to bank.

Rosarito is a chill place. Gl setting things up.

I'm thinking of spending a couple weeks down there pretty soon. Any opinions on whether TJ or Rosarito would be better for a short term stay?

Also if anyone has a recommendation on a hotel in a good area that'd be great. I won't have a car so I'm looking for a relatively safe area with food and stuff near by.

Been scrolling through this massive thread for info but it's been eerily dead the last few months. Everyone get taken out by the cartels over the winter?

If anyone has a realtor recommendation that'd be great, as I'm thinking of spending some time in the area now.

I could be wrong, but I think the poker expat community in Rosarito area has dwindled quite a bit over the last several years.

Hey ppl, I'm looking to fill my room in rosarito next month for 2-3 weeks only. The dates are june 6 to the 24th. I have 1 roommate who plays cash online. Rent would be around 250 or 300$ for that time period. The building is called Oceana, a few blocks from the rosarito beach hotel. Everything here is ready to go for poker. We have 2 internet connections.

Here's a balcony pic, PM me

This whole thread vefins with a great post about building community...

I need a solid, and will return the favor...
Point me in the right direction. Exchange personal emails with me. I need a residence and to be back on Stars by the end of July 2016...

If so, I will gladly pay a fee...Poker Refugees is overpriced.

My impression is that the community there is very small right now. Also it is beginning of peak summer season so finding a place may not be easy and/or may be expensive.

Of course these impressions could be totally wrong. Good luck.

Have you asked to be added to the Skype group?

You may have to pay a premium in summer for a condo, but it shouldn't be that difficult to find a place. If no one in Skype group has opening, then check the bulletin boards in lobbies of the big towers.

If you can tolerate a local apartment, you can find one cheap. You would probably have to look at a few dumps until you found a decent place, but it can be done and done quickly. They do usually want you to be vouched for by a local (sort of a co-signer). That person could also give you an idea of which non-tourist areas are safer. I knew a helpful local while I was down there, so let me know if that seems like a path you might take.

this whole "have a local vouch for you" thing was not my experience at all. i talked with 3 different realtors/property owners down there and didnt hear a thing about that. cash in hand for first month's rent and a deposit, as well as a good credit/background check (and maybe not even that) are typically all you need.

I'm talking about a cheap apartment, not the beachfront condos.

Anyone have a room open for rent starting July 1st? Anyone looking to get a place? I'm open to long or short term. I'm already living in Rosarito but our lease is over at the end of June and my roommate is going back to the States. I'm easy going, love sports (betting), 420 friendly, clean/organized and pay my bills on time. Looking for the same. If you are serious, real and looking for the same, send me a message. Take it easy and good luck...
