Regarding Las Olas, my realtor had 2 possible options: (1) satellite dish or (2) stealing the internet from Califia towers (right across the way). He did say that the chances of the IP address being switched is very slim (they have been saying that for awhile). The truth is that most people want an US IP address for a variety of reasons... One of the corner units he showed me actually got pretty sick reception from Califia.

Like I said, I looked at soooooooooooooooooo many places yesterday and I ended up going with Plaza Del Mar. I wanted something away from downtown, by the ocean, and very modern interior. Every place I saw was really nice, but for the price and what I get it, Plaza Del Mar was kind of a no brainer. 15 minute drive to downtown Rosarito, INSANE view from the balcony, 3BR for 1k, and a Mexican IP address = win. Downside is no garage, but I saw a few real high end cars parked so whatever....

This is the unit I went with : http://www.rentinginmexico.com/Listi...ailTypeID=NONE

It's a lot bigger than I thought by looking at the pictures. The owner of my condo also owns 2 other ones in the building and plays online poker so that's pretty sweet.

TBH, I was disappointed with Las Olas; maybe I was expecting too much. The amenities are really nice as everyone has mentioned, but the pool isn't heated so not much use for half of the year. The actual condos themselves was pretty meh (I looked at 8 units in the building). For the same price, you could move to Palicio Del Mar. The amenities blows away Las Olas and the condos are insane. Just some food for thought.

Rosarito reminds me a lot of Vegas tbh. They seriously went on a building spree when the market was flush and now renters are basically living for free there. So many unfinished high end condos.....
Thank you for taking the time to post this...can you PM me your realtor's info?

Has anyone needed to buy office or bedroom furniture? I assume there are stores for that...Has there been anything that anyone *needed* but couldn't find in Rosarito?

peanut butter
medicinal grade bananas
random smoke accessories
taco bell

Shane - if u ever run into this problem down here...you can open a PO box in San Diego and there's a company that goes 5 days a week to pick up your mail and bring it here. Amazon, ebay, etc is all back within reach again, and I've found that most things you can't find here you can at least order online.

Furniture - we wanted to buy some desks but they were $80 each at home depot here. There's prob much cheaper, locally made products...or even hiring a carpenter we've heard is a great idea (basically free labor and great craftsmanship). There ARE furniture stores though obv, and this place is actually known for its woodwork I think?

whole foods type stores dont exist down here so you either have to get quality food from a restaurant (which are all dirt cheap and great btw, just a hassle if you are on the grind) or get the generic crap from a mexican grocery store if that matters to you.

I know if you want to receive mail you have to get a PO box, but what if I have something shipped that I have to sign for...couldn't they just deliver it directly to my unit? I might call them tomorrow to see.

I miss taco bell and little caesars!

Nah,they have PO box's here too. Right next to the Oceana del mar. But in the states fedex delivers directly to your door,so I would assume they could deliver directly to your door in our condos?

no, man. I'm not 100% on all the details, but you don't want a PO box in mexico. Mexican mail takes literally months to deliver things, since there is no centralized government mail system, but a bunch of privatized companies in each region that communicate with each other independently, taking forever.

What is set up next to oceana del mar, which is what I have, is a PO box that is located in San Diego, but the company goes up and gets your mail 5 days a week and brings it to another mail box for you here. They pay all import tariffs on any packages, then you reimburse them when you pick up your package.
You can also send mail to the US through them, and they'll bring your mail to the US and put it in a drop box.

I'm not 100% certain that this is the person that helped me get settled in Rosarito, but I'm pretty sure it is (I mentioned to him that a lot of poker players on 2+2 needed help with relocation).

I'm going to confirm via email if this is in fact my realtor; as I have posted, I highly recommend the guy who helped me and I get nothing for sending people his way btw. I'll post after I speak with him.

Has anyone here who had a neteller account pre-UIEGA tried to get back onto Neteller either by reopening their old accounts or opening a new one? Or anyone been able to sign up to NT living there who never had an account with them before? They seem somewhat more easy to deal with and set up to go then MB are.

Unless you have a Mexican ID (or aren't American) then it's a no go. Been that way ever since UIGEA.

I don't like eating out and wanna make my own stuff. I just need produce, dairy, meat and maybe some peanut butter and strawberry jelly. I can get all that in Rosarito, right? If not I guess I can go to San Diego to get it.

Still flip-flopping between Rosarito and Cabo. Gonna have to just wait and see what happens I suppose.

[not trying to get all food snobby] - if you like eating the normal peanut butter they sell that at super markets here, however the only kind I eat.. the kind you have to stir exists only in america as far as I've seen so I pick it up whenever I go to SD to visit my gf. some produce and meat looks a little questionable with flies buzzing around everywhere so I've just stuck to things like baby carrots prepackaged in bags, bananas and avocados etc. I haven't done anything barefaced like apples/pears but that's just my prerogative. Meat I just haven't cared to prepare yet because I haven't wanted to put in the time so I don't know anything about it. I imagine a BBQ cookout down here would be fun... I'll add that to our list of things to do which is adding up quickly, lol.

ultimately, if you don't care about whole foods/trader joes quality you will be just fine. I'd recommend to try eating out at some places though - its a very different experience down here. Its super cheap (I often find it cheaper than buying food at a grocery store), they frequently put a ton of work into making it for you and it can be amazingly fresh/awesome... from this post in a couple weeks time I'm inspired to compile a list of the best places to go and the worst (I've only had one bad experience so far and it was also felt by cafe noire on a separate basis at the same place) to go to around here. Input from others always welcome!

Also to Bryan - yea that store is one of the closest possible places to my apartment (super conveniently), thanks for the recommendation though because I would have loved it if I hadn't already found it lol.
