I submitted my application online last week. They say to periodically check my status online for any change. And to contact them if nothing happens after 8 weeks. Hope it doesn't take very long because the border is misery right now.

i change my vote. USA ftw, all u regs that arent down here yet, should seriously consider staying in america and grinding live. its better for my profit line, thanks for ur understanding.

I believe the downstairs unit is available in the duplex where I live. I'm not 100% certain of this, but the couple who lived there before is no longer there and the owner has had people cleaning, painting, etc. for the past week or so. Unless he already has a tenant lined up, I would guess it's available.

There's a poker player moving to Rosarito who contacted me and plans to look at it tomorrow (Friday) if they make it to Rosarito tonight. If anyone else is interested, PM me and let me know if you speak Spanish.

If I'm wrong and it's unavailable, you can still quickly look at my apartment to get an idea of what is available for the price.

I've lived here for over 2 months, so may be a good time to give a review of my place:

Location- it's in the section called Mazatlan, which is a dozen blocks or so from the main blvd., probably close to a mile south of Waldo's
Description- one bed, one bath; upstairs unit in duplex; owner lives in house behind duplex; secure parking (I don't have a car though)
Convenience- it's a nice walk to the blvd. and there are several markets (incl. Oxxo) and little restaurants/taco stands within a couple blocks or so; laundromat is about six blocks away; taxis are just a block away, as are calafias (cheap shuttle vans) to both the blvd. and TJ; swap meet is here once/week and just a block away
Price- $200/month, $150 deposit
Utilities- Telnor can be installed, water is dirt cheap, electricity not bad either... gas for hot water is largest of non-internet bills
Other- if I had complaint, it would be noise; people across the street have a ton of dogs and they sometimes bark/yap for long periods; then there's the sounds of sirens, ATVs racing, etc.; I drown it out with lots of loud music, as the apartment is the opposite of soundproof, more like a sound magnet; still it's generally peaceful and quiet (esp. during sleeping hours)

Disregard my post about an available apartment. It looks/sounds like they are doing some sort of construction or remodeling downstairs, so not sure what the heck the situation is with that unit.

No, my rental agent is Irka Davis. She's a gringo who's been down here for 20 or so years. She's been fantastic with everything so far. I'm south of Ensenada, so I assume that's outside Miguel's turf, though everything I read about him here makes him seem the go-to guy for Rosarito.
