Explain your situation, buy a cheap cellphone and see if they'll take that as a utility bill. Think they have accepted that for some people before.

Hi.
Very hard to say and I`m def not the best one to answer, but you can live really cheap and pretty expensive.
To take the most popular ares (5.ave) prices for normal resturants are around 100-350 for the main dish. Pizza is like 100-150 for example. Cheaper in other areas.
Nightlife, I have only been out in 5ave and prices go from 20 pesos for a beer to 150 for a drink.

Friendly tip: The music is super loud in some of the clubs, try avoiding standing to near the speakers if you do not want ear damage.

if you're american the prices for eating out will be about the same

you can get as cheap or expensive an apartment as you want

Have had several discussions on this, still have no clue why.

i also read itt playa passed a law basically preventing condo's from being > 4 stories, i'm assuming this the main reason for scarce beachfront properties?

cost isn't an issue, and beach front is a must, is anyone familiar with any available places like this?

ive been doing some searching on playa-rentals.com and exploring through google earth(lol) but cant find much.

thanks everyone!

If you want Beachfront, probably the best location is a place called Aldea Thai. Great location and middle of town. You could also check out Magia, Elements, and Casa del Mar. The last 2 are on the newer north side of town, but very nice. While the buildings are basically beach front, not all of the units are, so your mileage may vary. Also, those places aren't particularly cheap, but if cost is not an issue, definitely look into the penthouses at those places. Probably looking at $3k - $4k USD or the peso equivalent.

if you want a house, you are going to have to live in playacar which is undesirable for a few different reasons talked about somewhere itt. the closest you are going to find in PDC proper is a 3br condo, if that is what you meant by "poker house" then carry on

Condo plaza san pedro at 5th n 38 is pretty legit, not beachfront, but a cpl block walk to the beach and right near it all, very convenient and many restaurants on bottom floor for quick pickups during breaks.

lived there for four months, had some negative experiences like the microwave never working at any point, the AC running made the ceiling in the bathroom flood (lol). And the internet in our apartment (303b) was terrible. While we were there there wasn't a single person who spoke english on the staff, but I think there's one girl who's fluent in english/spanish at reception now. Just make sure you haggle for the rent price, whatever they quote you will be ridic high.

But we got out entire 33k peso deposit back, minus like 150 pesos for a broken glass or something. Imo that said a decent amount about their trustworthyness.

Some other guys lived in 203a and had ****ty internet, and some other guys lived in 201b and had perfect internet... pretty random

did they make you pay for the upgrade?
There is no upgrade, they just have the cablemas guys come and jiggle the wires and tell you it's upgraded when you're on the same plan as before. I argued with them for a while and they finally said they don't actually offer a higher plan than san pedro already has, but they still wanted us to pay for it.

It looks like I'll definitely be moving here in 1 to 2 weeks for at least 5 months. Can someone PM me a recommended (list) of realtor agents?

And out of curiosity, why can't we just list out the agents as one post?

Cheers.

I am thinking about staying in Mexico for at least a couple of months sometime. I am currently living in Malta but I am from the Netherlands. I have been on vacation to Playa Del Carmen twice and I had maybe the best times of my life during those vacations.

My question is Playa Del Carmen or Rosarito? (or another place?)
Official Playa Del Carmen Thread Quote

The general consensus from people who have been to Playa and Rosarito is that Playa>>>Rosarito in almost every respect. Although, in Rosarito, you can actually get beachfront condos for very good prices. In Playa, there isn't much beachfront condos available (a few though). Warmer water here in Playa, good nightlife (you can party every night if you want), international women (Argentina, Irael, Scandinavian countries, England, Australia, USA, etc). If you had the best times of your life here, then why would you go anywhere else right?

Yeah Spence, I would do a speed test if i were you. I would be willing to bet that you're getting the same 10Mb download 1Mb upload as almost everyone else on Cablemas. (505 pesos per month planw/ basic cable tv fwiw)
