I brought my desktop with me in my luggage when I came. By far the superior option imo, if it is not a possibility for your situation then buy a new one here. The mail sucks so bad (even ups) that when my monitors arrived the box was so badly beaten up it was a miracle monitors were not broken.

I shipped 2 monitors (super expensive btw, I think it cost like $400 at ups) plus when they got to me the guy wanted another 650peso (like $60 for the exchange rate back then) ... Im guessing that is tax you are reading about? anyway, point stands either pack it with you or buy new here.

lining up realtors/viewings before you get here can only help imo, as long as you dont commit to anything obv

electricity is hit or miss. if you use too much you get put on this system called DAC where you spend I think 4x the rate of anyone else. you still wont reach 3k usd for 2months, I had large condo with ac running 24/7 in all the rooms more or less and it was maybe 1500 usd for 2months depending on what exchange rate was

You could get lucky and get a place that is not on DAC at the time, and use hella power and still pay cheap because I think it takes 2 bills or 4 months of high usage before they put you on the higher payment. Once you are on it I think it takes 6 months of low energy use to get back on the subsidy

I could be wrong about some of this stuff, just going by what I've heard here and there.

im not qualified to answer women related questions although ive never been to thailand but from what I hear they are not similar. more western scene where looks/game matter but you should have edge with being non mexican. isnt it like that anywhere ie people like exotic things? knowing spanish helps the most i thinks

I moved to Puerto Vallarta about a week ago and I don't like it much. I'm here with 2 other guys and I'm definitely going to PDC sometime late Jan or early February. A couple guys PMd me some info so I've very briefly talked to 2 realtors but any other help would be appreciated. I heard 3BR's are rare so we might end up getting a 2BR and a 1BR, that's if all 3 of us actually go. I'm the only one going for sure, but 90% at least 2 of us and 70% all 3 of us will go. Could end up with a 4th too.

We'd prefer to live beachfront in a decent place. If we end up actually being able to find a 3BR we'd prefer to spend 3k or less, but could prob stretch it to 3500 if the place is right. If it's a 2BR the above numbers change to 2k and 2500 respectively.

If I get a 1BR I wouldn't care as much that it's on beach but would still slightly prefer it and would want to spend 1200 or less, could stretch to 1500. If anyone knows a realtor that would be really helpful or a website with lists of places let me know.

We only want to sign a 2 month lease, maybe 3. I understand this will limit things. How do security deposits/rent work with most places out there? Is security deposit equal to one month rent? Do they require rent for entire lease up front if it's 2-3 months? PM me any info or for my skype/AIM.

Also anyone with a room or 2 available in existing places we could consider those also.

Edit: oh yeah for some weird reason they dont sell beef jerky at all in puerto vallarta. do they have beef jerky there? because if they dont im gonna mail myself like 10 boxes of it before I leave NYC when im home. this is a serious question, it's been quite the issue for me here. thanks.
