Hey man thanks for doing this thread ! What about outdoor sports ? Do you know if there's mountain biking anywhere close or wakeboarding ? How is transportation both in and out of the city ? I've been thinking of going to South America for a while and Argentina and Medellin are both spots I'd like to visit for a while.

biking is big in the colombian community, they have many parks and bike trails. about 30 min drive away from medellin poblado there is a small town called guarne. they have big mountain trails you can ride. where you can rent a mountain bike and helmet for the day. the price package is about 40 bux. its a 2-3 hour trail. they also have atv tours for about 110 usd . they also have a helecopter tour where you can fly over the whole city. dunno the price on that. they also have a resort where you can go camping, water skiing, wakeboarding, hydrofoiling, kneedboarding, tubing. the package is pretty sick for a 5 night stay its 1300 usd and you can do all the activities you want and stay in the resort. im ont sure on the price for a day. argentina is a great country to visit also . i hear good stuff about buenos aeries

never been to bogota but its more of a financial business type city, a lot of business there. from what i heard from medellin people. they are not as warm and embracive. in terms of women, medellin hands down. i think the food and culture are the same. the cost of living, bogoto is a bit cheaper.

Really? I trusted that site with Medellin being cheaper: http://www.numbeo.com/cost-of-living...ayCurrency=USD

But very questionable data there.

hmm i dunno those statistics. they look legit but remember if you move to medellin or bogota you will either be living most likely in zone 5 or zone 6 which is wealthy to upperclass living. we need to look up numbers for the wealthy areas.

Never went to Bogota but most people there didn't have good things to say about it. Colombians said that:

1) Chances of tourists being targeted for crime was high

2) The weather as mentioned not even close to as nice

3) Bogota is more of a business city so way less stuff to do.

4) The people have a reputation for being cold and not friendly

5) Bogota was supposedly more expensive as well

6) Women supposedly not as hot, but that could just be local bias as I can't imagine that it is that different

I've spent over two weeks in both cities. I hear that you shouldn't hail a cab on the streets of Bogota -- you should have someone call one. That being said, the northern part of Bogota is pretty nice. Stay away from Candelaria at night! If you're around zone T or parquet 93 you're in a fairly good place. The weather isn't as nice, though I guess that's subjective. In Medellin you're bound to be fairly warm during the day. In Bogota it is a lot milder, but all in all not terrible -- you'll get some drizzle and cloudiness each day but it's not intolerable. As for business city, yes it is one, but you can find some pretty sweet bars/nightlife around town. As for people being cold, I can see that, but really I'm not sure if I noticed that generalization. Bogota has cheap areas. I'd do more research before making that assumption too. As a whole though I'd say prices are pretty similar. And yea the women thing is an interesting topic. I find the girls in Bogota to be really hot and trying less hard, whereas Medellin you're basically competing with the baseline hot girl. I wouldn't eliminate Bogota for that reason, but you're definitely finding more girls pleasing to the eyes in Medellin -- that's just known!

Overall, I give the nod to Medellin for sure. But I didn't think Bogota was that bad so you may want to take a serious look first.

Wish I would've shared my experience with this on my original post. I've been going to the gym at EAFIT. They only have one squat rack and one bench press, which I use for 80% of my exercises... But overall they have at least one of everything you need. And I think I paid 70k or 90k for 12 visits, which is totally reasonable. Plus god damn are the college girls cute

Another thing. If you're into running or biking, I've been doing this thing called Ciclovia. Every Tuesday and Thursday 8-10pm they close this division of a highway and open it up to pedestrians. On Sunday mornings they open up a **** ton of more streets for it.

http://www.medellin.gov.co/transito/ciclovia.html

I gotta say that both Bogota and Medellin are awesome cities for biking. Though the elevation in both cities (more so Bogota) makes breathing difficult! Bogota: 2640m Medellin: 1500m

My question is more of a survey. I've had relationships with 4 Colombian girls 2 in costa rica and 2 in mexico. While all were very beautiful I felt they lacked any fire in the bedroom. they all seem to be rather conservative boring in the bedroom and not extremly skilled. While brazilian girls are just crazy skilled in the bedroom. Am I just running bad with colombian girls or is this the way all colombian women are?

Awesome thread here, I'm planning on moving to Medellin in a few months, I'm actually planning on going to cochabamba for 3 months and then medellin after that, what do you think about cochabamba? Have you ever been to Bolivia?

I speak spanish and am a bigger guy like you so I think I would be fine in zone 4 or 5... I would like to spend $400 or so on rent, Could you tell me more about zone 4 and 5? Where exactly are they?
