Is there anyone in Macau at the moment? How are things there? I'm in Beijing at the moment and my visa is expiring soon so I'm thinking of going to Macau for a bit.

I am in HK, well I was until a few hours ago. Last I heard (for Macau) some visitor visas were resumed but only for select Guangdong province peeps, maybe more strings attached. Also no poker running. So best guess it is still a ghost town. Someone may have more updated info. In HK all nightlife is still closed

Someone asked about poker sites playable from China. I've been playing on GG for the past couple months.

Have the police completely busted up the home game scene where y'all are? I know people who've gotten pinched, and I've even seen articles about it in the local official newspaper. I'm honestly surprised to hear there are public tournaments running.

With Bodog88 and PS both withdrawing from the China market, what are the chances that GG does the same?

I was teaching English in Shijiazhuang before COVID and I’m heading back in the next couple of weeks. Would love to get access to those WeChat accounts you mentioned for APL and Runner Runner! Also would love to get in touch with someone from the forum, including yourself if interested, who attends the events and maybe we could go together. I had been in China for two years before coming home to Canada because of COVID and unfortunately never found this site until I started getting more involved in the online poker community in March, so it’ll be great to find some tourneys to play when I’m back!

does macau let whitey in now?

No change since December or so. My understanding is (maybe incomplete, I dunno) if you are a mainland resident you can travel to Macau, independent of nationality, depending on where you live in the mainland, you must quarantine or not. Divided into low/medium/high risks areas, kind of complicated, as usual, typically Chinese. Surely there are exceptions for VIPs and stuff. maybe there are also extra hurdles for foreigners, but I haven't heard about that. Guangdong residents or stayed there for 21 days before can travel without quarantine, only test needed, can also enter HK under the same conditions. If you are not a resident of mainland, HK or Taiwan you are out of luck. (HK, Taiwan need quarantine, and also on the way back, so in practice only mainland can travel for now).
The other question is if you want to do that now, last I heard it is still a ghost town, especially the casinos, although mainland can travel visitor numbers are still tiny. No poker also, maybe aside from private games.

if only those foreigners who get the special visas to be allowed in the country are allowed in macau, it could lose its predatory 8 scandavian pros at a table environment and once again become a fun place for the people to relax and have fun after punting off far higher stakes in baccarat and once again become what it used to be

lots of big ifs there, but this could be a phoenix moment for macau poker, especially since it looks like china is going to restrict tourism for quite some time
