Re: Official China Thread (Macau, Hong Kong, Shanghai, Beijing, Guangzhou, etc)
I dont really blame that weibo post. Yang Rui's post isnt even close to popular by chinese standards. Id chalk that up to unlucky.
Probably just a few 风情 (idiot, patriotic youth who dont understand why they are patriotic) just want to go back to the cultural revolution days.
While anti-foreigner sentiment is on the rise, id say its increased by less than 1/10000 of 1%

I'm part Hawaiian but people think I look Chinese. Unfortunately, I don't speak Mandarin or Cantonese either. Chinese people think I'm mentally retarded and don't really consider that I may be a foreigner. I guess that's a good thing?

Wow that's a lot of work for a 1 sentence spam.
I don't really think that many people are being incited by all the anti foreigner **** going around, however I think a select few are really really really ramping up the anti foreigner hate due to it. Seems like that after my experiences and those of my friends at least.
I didn't know there was a single post which made news, I just heard that there was a lot of hate going around on weibo.

LOL, nice.
Meh, just learn 1 phrase "I'm not Chinese". I think it may translate to "No Chinese" which is even easier.

Re: Official China Thread (Macau, Hong Kong, Shanghai, Beijing, Guangzhou, etc)
Hey guys,
going to Beijing, Da Lian, Shenzhen and Hai Nan Dao in September. Can someone recommend me some real fun places? Especially in Beijing because that's where I'll spend about 10 days or so. By fun, I mean I-wanna-be-a-kid-again- kinda fun.
Watercube Waterpark. Arcade Halls. That kinda thing.

Sucks your going to dalian in september. beautiful beaches in the summer and it will probably be raining by sept.
There are 4 big arcades here in beijing.
xidan 西单
xizhimen 西直门
dongzhimen 东直门
shuangjing 双井
which all have a ton of video games.
There is a water park in huairou. i have never been as its far as hell.
There is an amusment park called hualegu 欢乐谷. Expect very long waits... like 2 hours for some rides. Has the worlds biggest ferris wheel.
Chaoyang park has some mediocore rides and is more carnival like.

As far as da lian goes, the zoo is very mediocore.
Depending on how long you are there id probably just go to the beach and go clubbing. Maybe check out the parks so you can corrupt gov't officials live.
Kings club is the best.

Re: Official China Thread (Macau, Hong Kong, Shanghai, Beijing, Guangzhou, etc)
Cool, thanks a lot!
Yea, decided on September because of heat in Beijing in June/July (and an awful lot of schoolkids on vacation) and also the ticket price differences were pretty big.
So are there major differences between the 4 arcade halls? prices? I don't think I'm gonna go to all 4..
oh and, in the same vein- for buying kids presents: I remember there being a toystore next to Hong Qiao, but it was kinda sh*tty..
also as a schoolkid I used to love 小商品市场s.. Could you recommend some?

Re: Official China Thread (Macau, Hong Kong, Shanghai, Beijing, Guangzhou, etc)
So now I'm 100% sure I'll study from late August until beginning of January in the University of Macau. If anyone is going to do the same, shoot me a PM
By the way, flight prices are sooo high ! A round trip to Seoul from Brussels cost ~€750, a one-way ticket to Macau from Brussels is about the same price ! How come ? Remote Island ?
