Where to go for end of March and start of april?

I am thinking about taking a trip somewhere during university holiday? I can take flights from UK and I don't fancy going to north america. Budget would be around 2k $. There are tickets to australia now on special offer for 499£ to australia, so I though that might be worth looking into. Previous travelling background: visited 30+ countires, most of them in europe, 6 in the rest of the world, most of the time my travel was supercomfortable (hotel and organized tours), travelled europe a bit staying in hostels last summer, would obv stay in hostels on this trip as well with this sort of budget.

I checked flights and I can go to Perth for 499£ (800$) and to Sydney and Melbourne for 599£ (958$). One of my dreams/desires is to learn/try surfing, so that's that i would try do in australia apart from seeing cities and nature.
