Re: Moving to Costa Rica Jan 2012...looking for some input from people who have already relocat
i traveled to puerto rico with my dog recently, two actually, you have to get a crate that the airline approves of if not they sell you one and you have to let them know your bringing a pet. my dog fit under my seat and i brought rabbies shots proof but they never asked for them.

Anyone looking to move to Jaco Beach area/Playa Hermosa towards end of May 2012 hit me up. Best if you are into sports and don't have a passion for techno music.
Re: Moving to Costa Rica Jan 2012...looking for some input from people who have already relocat
I posted this in the other Costa Rica thread because it is time-sensitive. Help would be appreciated:
I want to fly down to Costa Rica on January 9th. I will be there for at least three months, maybe longer (after border hopping into Panama for a weekend to make sure I'm not violating any immigration laws.) I haven't booked my flight yet because I really don't want to buy a round-trip ticket. Is there a way around doing this? I will be flying in on Spirit Airlines fwiw.
Re: Moving to Costa Rica Jan 2012...looking for some input from people who have already relocat
just buy a one way ticket line up some places to look at and if you have to you can buy a one way ticket back. thats what i'm doing, but i'm staying tilli i find a place.
what advice can people give on jaco beach? it seems to be one of the closest and most popular beaches from San Jose but i've also heard its very dirty.
Re: Moving to Costa Rica Jan 2012...looking for some input from people who have already relocat
I have been in Jaco beach moved here through pocket refugees.
I wish that i moved somewhere else than Jaco. (not escazu) I am told you can still get reliable enough internet in most places in Costa Rica and you could live somewhere that is much more beautiful and cheaper with less prostitutes. Also, I would recommend just finding a translator or a lawyer and pay them ~200$ to get your bank account open and make sure you have all the right documents to send to the lawyer. If you speak spanish pretty well then I'm sure its super easy to do on your own.
on a side note I walk around all the time by myself at night here on the beach and on the roads and I have not had any bad encounters.
you should probably have a flight or train ride out of costa rica set up before you arrive as it will make dealing with customs and getting your visa much easier. (they might make you buy a ticket out of the country at the airport if you don't have one already)
The women here are.... all prostitutes. You basically cannot find a girl here who is not a prostitute. Another reason I do not recommend people move to Jaco. Move to a new country to experience the culture not to experience its tourist/americanism.
Re: Moving to Costa Rica Jan 2012...looking for some input from people who have already relocat
Thanks for the info Wems. I am arriving in costa rica on monday with a few friends, we plan to stay until end of may. We have not picked a place out yet, and are just going to go with it and see what we want. Jaco is one of our top options, but it seems as though it would be a cool place to vacation for a few days...but not live there. From everything I read it appears as though the hookers are to plentiful..seems cool..but not in the long term. You say you heard internet is stable in many places, can you recommend any other places that would fit well for poker players? I really don't know many places, so anything would help. Thanks
