March Vacation Aruba or Cabo

Thread title says it all. My group is deciding between Cabo and Aruba for a trip this March. I have one preference the rest of the group has another.

Everyone in the group is 25-30.

I was hoping some of you in the travel forum could help provide possible pros and cons of each place if anyone has been there as well as any additional information on the following:

1 - Best places to stay at/avoid (Lodging per room of 1500 or less for the week is preferred.

2 -Anything you particularly enjoyed/disliked at each destination.

Thanks In Advance

Re: March Vacation Aruba or Cabo

I have never been to Cabo; I spent two days in Aruba like a month and a half ago since it was cheaper to fly there and stay two nights then continue to my destination than to fly direct.

Aruba was *ok*. The poker was pretty great; lots of money moving around between bad players. The beaches were quite nice.

At 1500/wk it might be a moot point; though I didn't look so hard for lodging, but all of the decent resorts were 300-500 a night. Probably there are group deals you can get or something; but I stayed at a ****ty place on the interior of the island, with no hot water (and indeed, no water at all for a while) and it was about 120$ usd a night after taxes.

I would go to Cabo myself, if it were with a group. More room to move around; its no so flat and deserty. I guess I am not so into the hyper-tourism at all.. but the only reason I would ever go back to Aruba is if it were a) free or b) to fleece rich tourists during the high season.

Re: March Vacation Aruba or Cabo

I have family in Aruba and been there around 10 times, and I'm also currently living in Cabo. I personally like Aruba more overall, but I also have the benefit of a nice free place to stay.

If u go to Aruba you would want to stay on the high rise side on Palm Beach. In the last few years they have really built up that area with tons of new nightlife bar/club restraunt options and two big mall complexes. All of that is a tiny walk across a two lane street from the beach/casino resorts. Like mentioned though, alot of those resorts are going to be fairly pricey. The cheapest ones I know of are Brickell Bay Beach Club and The Mill. They are both across that street from the beach, but still have their own Beach area with palapas etc.

Second option would be hotels and resorts on Eagle Beach. It's amazing and has been voted top beach in the Caribbean a few times and is still only a 5 min drive or less to the high rise area with all the action. I was in Aruba during March a few years ago and it was a great time. If it's everyones first time there then you should see some of the tourist stuff. Go up to the Old Lighthouse at the end of the island. There is a good view from up there and has a restraunt. There is a Natural water pool and bridge that is pretty cool. You can rent and ride ATV's in the sand dunes and desert by the ocean. Nightlife stuff like I said is mainly by the high rises now. Senor Frogs, Confessions, Sopranos, etc. You could take the party bus around bar hopping one night. A booze cruise during the day. I'd def recommend Moombas Beach Bar & Restraunt especially on Sundays where they have live music. It's right on the beach and a sweet bar with a few beach tennis sections where u can play, watch, drink, take a dip in ocean, repeat. It's a great place with good vibe. Oh, and beer/drink of choice is def Balashi's and Aruba Aribas. Choosing Aruba for those alone is understandable by me.

This will be my first time in Cabo during March/Spring Break and I am expecting it to be a good time. Cabo has better fishing and Golf options, but idk what you guys have planned and your budget. I'm clueless to what resorts r cheapest and best value. But for nightlife you will have some decent options. Lots of diff bars and then as night winds down Squid Roe will b where most will flock too. Both places you can easily get by with English and U.S. Dollar is taken pretty much everywhere. So with all that said, I don't really think you can make a bad choice here. GL and have a good time!

Re: March Vacation Aruba or Cabo

I have never been to Cabo so I can't comment. I did just come back from Aruba a few days ago... If you go to Aruba book your hotel thru Priceline! No seriously Priceline. Use this site for research http://www.betterbidding.com/. Basically if you try to book 4* or higher there is only 5 or 6 hotels you can win I think 5 (there is a list on the website). There is nothing else that will come up (it's a small island). You will be happy with all of them as they will be the best on the island. I bid for 4* and booked a $309 priced Marriot for $140. My friends friend bid for resort and won $379-389 priced Westin at that time for $180 (and she overpaid $10-20 bucks because she was in a rush). If you drop to 3-3.5 stars you'll still get a decent hotel and it will probably be like a $100. When I was there somebody said you can rent a timeshare for cheaper and mentioned some website unfortunately I don't remember what it was. I did search for a timeshare before I booked thru Priceline but didn't see anything that looked good. Maybe somebody who reads this knows the website. But basically what I'm saying the crazy prices you will see for Aruba for good hotels will seem like such a scam it's not even funny. The airfare is cheap.

Wat. Curacao over Aruba??? and some of your reasons are better nightlife and poker? both are way better in Aruba. Better beaches etc. Curacao has some nice mountain bike trails though.

Do both have good sports betting options? March madness will be in full swing during your vacation.
