Guys just wondering- me and 4 other guys are goin to malta in late july- shud we commit to an apartment now or just make appointments for viewings when we get there? I`m leaning towards the former. Also any opinions on good areas to live? Im leaning towards Sliema and near St.Julians- prob a house more so than apartment, but open to everything. I find Dahlia the best real estate site so far- any other good ones?

The whole procedure of visiting different places, setting up the lease on the chosen one and having everything ready took two days for me. Granted tho that the type of good I went for is different and more common than a place capable of housing 5+ people. Other example, two friends went for a big apartment in the Portomaso marina and had everything set up almost as fast, altho they had to wait like a week or two before it was ready (I don't remember why).

I imagine if you're going to live there for a couple months, you're better off staying at a hotel for a couple of days, see how you like the different parts of the island - it's small, you'll figure it out quickly - and then have an agent show different goods according to your requirements.

I think dhalia and remax are malta's two biggest rental/real estate agencies.

Also I'll repeat what's been said over and over again in this thread... Don't hesitate to get in touch with Matt. He's an agent at dhalia and posts here as matt81. He's efficient, reliable, always on top of things and just great to deal with in general. Ok I'll stop here before my posts turns into an ad for Matt's work, you get it!

Haven't seen sports mentioned except for gyms, I'm mainly wondering if it's possible to play street basketball on playgrounds. If it is, do you know if there's usually a bunch of people there, or am I going to shoot jumpers by myself?

Thanks.

Yeah man. Im now back in belgium till 19th of july..Got my gf commin over here the 2nd of july then flying back with her. iGaming is so nice. When you go out on your own you always meet someone who also works in the iGaming. Its relaxed working and its nice to have all the connections. If you want to work in the iGaming you should look on pentasia.com and bettingjobs.com or some other sites..

Hey,

I just arrived in Malta, looks like I'll be spending around two months here, living on Spinola Bay.

If anyone's up for drinks, watching a game or something definitely hit me up, would be great starting to know people on the island! Going to try a bunch of lunch spots around St Julians as well if anyone's up for this. My schedule's obviously pretty pretty flexible, thanks to poker .

Hey guys, it is easy for Americans to get visa extensions if they want to live there or are they pretty strict with 3 months in 3 months out?

Did you need a paper from the administration of your country of origin, or do you just go into a AXA office and pay a fee for health insurance with no documentation to provide?

From what I remember, nothing out of the ordinary. Get an appointment with them and they'll tell you what you need to know anyway.

Small correction to my previous post, I don't think you'll find AXA offices in Malta, you deal with Atlas Insurance instead.

Hello everyone,

I'm a Swedish MSNL player visiting Malta / St. Julians for a bit. My friend just signed a one year lease for a 2BR apartment in St. Julian so I will be spending some time on the island! We are planning on going out later and making friends with as many Scandinavian 19-year olds as possible It would be fun to meet up with some 2+2ers so let me know if anyone is up for dinner or a drink later!

Cheers,

Daniel

Hey guys,

I'm just in the middle of planning a 1 week holiday for some sun and my gf and I have decided that Malta looks like a nice place, but we'd like some info from people that actually know the place rather than listening to travel agent recommendations. We're looking for somewhere that's fairly quiet with regards to bars/nightclubs, but not somewhere totally secluded. We want plenty of things to do and see, with a little bit of nightlife, but just no drunken hordes, and would probably spend most of the time either just chilling in the sun or sightseeing. Would be cool if someone could give me a quick rundown of the main places to go. Cheers.

Sliema, Gzira, Swieqi, Pembroke, Certains parts of St Julian's (Portomaso)

Sliema seems to fit best with what you're looking for

When I came here about month ago, I could go down the stairs in paceville in about 5 minutes. 6 Weeks later, it takes me around 25-30 minutes, cause it's so crowded. When spain won.. It was.. Like the gates of hell was opened.

ESPANOL ESPANOL ESPANOL ESPANOL.. That tune is still ringing in my ears.

Portomaso is sweet. I live here, and I love it. Quiet, once I shut my windows.

If you got a GF, depending on how hard yad like to party, Paceville is a must.. But when it comes to doing stuff, just say hello to people, do stuff.. You can do whatever you want, and whatever you do - it will most likely be good times.

Hi guys,

I am a Canadian considering making the move to Malta in the near future. I am unsure if a Canadian pro poker player like myself can meet the criteria for moving to Malta (for example it says I need X amount of annual income "arising outside Malta" and also that one cannot work in Malta unless he is working "outside the country"). If any of you can clarify this for me, that would be greatly appreciated.

In any case, I suppose I should contact an immigration lawyer to ensure that everything goes as smoothly as possible? If so, can someone please point me in the direction of one?

Cheers,

Kyle

Earlier on in the thread guys talk about how easy it is to stay- basically u just say ur a tourist and wish to stay longer and enjoy the country. Basically the country likes american money and the fact u wont be working as such is in your favour
