For booking apts for less than 6 months you will have to pay 50-70% more on teh std rental rate. Most prices on estate sites are for 6months+. I can forward you to agents if there's a need. Just pm me. But keep in mind that availability for only 2 months is v limited (esp during june to sep) and you will have a hard time finding something decent for less than 1.2k/month

Bedroom has Queen sized double bed, wardrobe, chest of drawers and bedside cabinet. Kitchen / living room is open plan and includes TV.

None is really available ?
I did find one, I was lucky enough to find a nice 1 bedroom apartment from Gzira for 550e. It was under a rock, I can assure you that.

What I would recommend when looking apartments is don't waste any of your time going through agency websites. I didn't find any site what would have been even remotely updated. Basically what you can find is the market prices from 2-3 years a go

Normally u would want melita anyways so you can try that but likely same issues.
Moving to a foreign country (independant eu/schengen or others) without a passport is laughable at best

1. Why don't you have your landlord set up the internet?
2. Have someone from home send you the passport by courier?

E-cabs has an application but I never used it (I call them instead) so can't elaborate how useful it is... Generally, in my experience, e-cabs is the best value for money taxi service in Malta...

You could also get a Vodafone mobile pre-paid card for 4G in the meantime? If I am not mistaken there is a pre-paid "package" with 5 EUR for 500MB (in 28 days period) 4G... It's quite stable as a temporary solution, obviously you forget about downloading/youtube etc.

GL...

PS: Ask for neighbor's wi-fi password?

Hah yeah I thought about doing that too, begging for free internet.

I got GO prepaid mobile internet which is kinda reasonable 6GB for 20euros. But I went through that way too fast.. So now I found another option until I get my passport. MelitaWifi is available here so I just signed in there and its 10eur per 10GB.. much better pricing than mobile internet.

Landlord said he cant sign up for me because he already has internet at home and when he called them they said he would need like a business acc (more expensive) or something to have internet in multiple locations. Or he was just full of s**t. But he seems like a nice guy so who knows.

Thanks for all the suggestions

The app works very well (but you need a Maltese phone number). It doesn't auto-locate you, but if you select the town where you are (from a dropdown) and then mention the name of a pub or similar, you'll be fine. The driver will call you when he has arrived and doesn't see you.

I'm not really agree, many agencies helped me with this budget (pick up at you home/airport - visit 2/3 flats - answer h24 on facebook).

E-cabs app also allows you to build loyalty points. I can't be certain but I believe it's every €75 spent you get a free cab.

Handy if you use them each weekend to/from PV or wherever.

As for internet; Vodafone have a new plug and play box called Vodafone Homelink. It's €25 p/m and incredibly reliable. I was with Melita for 4 years and switched cause the connection dropped multiple times a day.

Hasn't happened once with Vodafone.

You also get a free trial month and if you don't like the service you just return the box to your nearest Vodafone outlet.

I'm going to help anyone who is looking to get a place for any budget.
Name is Reuben and his number is +356 79464072, a private agent. He will put you in a car and drive you around the island until you find a place that suits your needs. When you call him up, say you were referred through Yuriy and Roman, we lived in Birzebugga.
As a token of gratitude, throw me a PM when you get settled.

Can you have the utility bills in your own name or are they always in the name of the landlord when you rent?

We had the bill in our name, but I am sure this is landlord dependent.

FWIW I went to Melita office and they had no problem with setting up internet line with just my ID card from home country, nothing else was necessary. So Ill just set it up through them instead of GO even if its bit more expensive, will still save a bunch from not having to do a trip back home.

Seems like its just GO who thinks that ID card is not as good as passport.
