I actually live in Australia and I have often thought very similar things to what you guys are saying... especially after travelling through Europe or North America. Something about Australia feels like there is a "vibe" missing... it's boring to be honest. We just glorify a binge drinking culture which is highly over-rated in my opinion (not saying I dislike alcohol, but it gets a bit silly over here). And if you want to drink in a bar, be prepared to pay at least $10 for a beer in many places. I've had a lot more fun in many other cities around the world where beer was only $3.

I'm looking to move to Europe in July. Preferably Spain/Portugal but I'm open to ideas. Can someone please briefly explain what exactly a poker house entails? Is it essentially just a house-share where you all play poker on your own set-ups? Is there generally a pre-requisite track record in your poker background?

I currently have two roommates, "game2eazy" and "Aaralynn". I also have a friend, "shumme101", who lives in San Diego and commutes down here to play. I was able to get all their poker accounts setup rather easily. They were ready to play within 24 hours.

We have already hire a cook/cleaner to make grinding easier. The new roommates would have to agree to put in their share of the cost.
