I'm really sorry I've delayed with the updates as of late, but it's been an absolutely crazy few weeks with the opening of Riverking Sihanoukville being yesterday. But more on that later. I'll be honest in saying that mainly $1-$3 hold'em runs at Riverking Phnom Penh and that $2-$5 goes infrequently. The big game in the room is the $5-$5 omaha game so players who like to play bigger usually jump into that game. It does go more often at Naga, but don't believe it is an everyday affair.

Correct that Riverking in Phnom Penh does have a rake schedule of 10%, capped at $5. The +$1 is something we did for the $10K freeroll that just concluded and we're currently not doing it.

Minimum $100 and a maximum of $1,000. In Sihanoukville the same minimum but a maximum of $500.

Everyone involved with the Riverking moved heaven and earth to open our new Sihanoukville room in time. We had so many setbacks that I never really wrote about here. Luckily we hired some great people and have fantastic partners that were able to get us past the finish line. We ended up running a promotion in Riverking Phnom Penh to basically give away as many trips as possible to Sihanoukville. Most of our players got into town by the afternoon and we got our first game off at 2:00 PM. A few hours later and we had an epic grand opening party thrown for us by the partners and also the Bao Mai Casino. I got a text from one of them the day before asking if he should bring girls to the party and if twelve would be enough. It sounded like a good round number to me so twelve it was.

I don't know where our partners found these girls but it seemed as if there are a plethora of Russian girls waiting around to attend parties. They were certainly good at keeping the players entertained as it was difficult to keep a game during the festivities. But we actually managed to reconvene as a $2-$5 hold'em game then opened another smaller game to play into the morning. All in all it was a great night and if nothing else, the realization of a years long dream. So now we're in two cities and so there is really only one thing to do; look for a third.

No Skype group although that's not a bad idea. I didn't like Cambodian girls at first but now prefer them, obviously.

In Phnom Penh I've personally seen a $10-$20 game for both hold'em and Omaha.

I haven't had a chance to go out since the room opened but tried to get in as many drinking sessions as possible just before the launch of the new poker room. The Square is the common girlie bar area here in Sihanoukville and while it's not on par with Phnom Penh, it can still be a lot of fun. There are nights I secretly hope the game breaks early so I can down a few and visit some nice ladies.

I've just spent the last few days staying in the hotel in Phnom Penh where the Riverking is based. Unfortunately the game had closed early on the night I arrived. The next evening it had also closed early, though there was an Omaha game going. I decided to play most of the day yesterday and am pleased I did. It's a really well run room and the group of guys were all extremely welcoming and had lots of banter. One of the first hands I witnessed I saw the owner call off a 200bb 4b shove pre with 109hh as he himself stated he 'loved to gamble'. Living in Cambodia and turning Pro. Really gutted I wasn't staying longer as I'd like to have played much more but hopefully will play in their new room in Sihanoukville at the end of this month. If you are travelling to Cambodia I highly recommend coming to play here, free food and drink whenever you want, dealers are fantastic and an extremely warm and friendly atmosphere. Thanks to poker_triad also for sorting out my accomodation and being a great contact / information source. Hope to see you in Sihanoukville!

Thanks for the kind words; I'll be sure to pass it on to the staff. I'm still down in Sihanoukville for a while so I'll keep things warm for you here until you arrive.

Sorry but the Google maps is wrong and Facebook is correct. Please refer to the business cards I attached below. You can enter either on Street 184 or 200. We're inside the lobby through the double white doors. Or you can call the phone number in the business card to get directions.

How are you finding it being back in Snooky long term PT? & are you missing the PP room at all?

It's been interesting for sure as Sihanoukville is completely different from Phnom Penh. Basically no one is awake before 3:00 PM it seems. I think my biggest misstep in being down here thus far is the idea that we would run things just like Phnom Penh. So of course I told all the dealers they had to be in the room by 12:00 PM. A few days of sitting around all day before the game starts after 6:00 PM taught me to think otherwise. I do appreciate being able to sleep in, even though I don't have a home here yet and live out of hotel rooms. But if you've seen my Facebook photos of the pool view rooms at Bao Mai, that's not the worst thing either. The nightlife is different as well as there are only a few spots to hit up at a late hour. Still getting drunk and messing around with girls is fun in most places. I know this is going to be a weird thing to say right after my last sentence, but the biggest thing is I really miss my girlfriend and daughter. Perhaps that even sounds hypocritical, but it's the truth I suppose. And I really miss everyone at Riverking Phnom Penh. My boss keeps telling me to hurry back but there's so much to do here I don't know when that is going to be. But I've finally hired some managerial staff so I should be back at least for a few days soon. I think I convinced Yazzx to come down here so perhaps I'll bring him with me when I come back.

Trip report:

After having trouble finding the room on my first night i eventually got there on the 2nd night around 8pm. I'm not going to lie it felt kind of sketchy at first as I have never played any underground games before and not that much live poker. This was quickly put to ease tho with a friendly welcome and everything explained to me straight up front.
I sat down at 1/3 nl with the only $300 i had, so i really didn't want to have to do the walk of shame to go find an atm, especially because i had trouble taking money out previously. About 20mins in I won an hourly draw for $20 which was a pretty good start . I was slightly up for most of the night with no real swings until the game began to break, which most people hate but I enjoy live poker so much more when its 6max or less. When it was 3 handed i noticed you were allowed to straddle the button so started doing that every hand. I eventually played hu with who i can only imagine is a legend around here: Richie rich. We were allowed to play hu for half an hour paying $4 each in rake every 10mins, which i think is a decent deal considering how fast we were playing. I ran good and was finishing the session up over $500 but got the sales pitch and was talked into a to a flip for $100 and lost haha.

We went to Naga after, which is a huge fancy casino and when walking in I was thinking "why doesn't everyone just play here?" but that became pretty clear as the dealing and staff were just not up to par. I don't want to say anything bad as it did seem like they were trying but it was as if everyone was on their first day of training. I did get to watch Richie play baccarat which was kind of special.

2nd day at the riverking I played a bit over 6hrs which was exhausting to me after swimming most of the afternoon (I know i'm weak :/). Session started off pretty bad losing QQ vs AA in a spot i guess i could of got away from but I aint folding. Lost some more and thought it might be time for the walk of shame soon but thanks to a magical suck out wJJ vs AA on 833s x board and then quads i managed to make a profit. The room also ran a promotion if you played between certain times you got $40.

My experience in the room has been very positive. All the staff are really good at their jobs, the players are all good guys but might not be the best at poker . The room also gives players free food and drink and so far iv got $60 in rakeback which is far more than i ever expected from a card room.

cliffs

Card room is really good
I'm lucky
Other card room is pretty but not very good.

Lol I had AA 3x and KK twice in like 1 hour and lost every hand.. that JJ v AA was probably the most painful one...

Whats up guys, I'm coming into town for a few months in May. Just wondering what the going room rate is for River Kings? Also, I believe you can keep some money at the poker room? Is it a simple process?

I'm moving back to Thailand in a couple of weeks but plan on checking out Snookyville for a month after 60 days in Chiang Mai. Is there affordable housing to be found? Like a 1br apartment or condo/efficiency.

Sorry for the late reply. The hotel room rate is $10 per night if you play in the room. It comes out to basically $300 for the month and that includes electricity and free food in the poker room so it's a pretty good deal. You can keep money in the room as most players do. We just ask if you withdraw more than $10K you give us 24 hour notice.
