I didn't say anything about the veracity of the links, just that I found them from zigi's link. The first hand experiences that Mark posted, at least, I do not think were fabricated.

He definitely does seem a little... extreme... in his dislike for Cambodia though. Must be the whole being robbed and chased by guys with machetes thing.

And yes ofcourse most people who go there for a short holliday will not have any big problems i agree on that .....just watch your back and realise its not all that safe of a place you think it is...Man why i keep trying to help you...i am not jealouse i living my dream on the same continent for ages i just look it from the realistic side and do have alot of experience.
Zigi do you think you may just be a "know it all" ones of those people who have to preach over others. I didn't post looking for advice from you btw I don't think or care if you are jealous, i never mentioned living the dream. Do you not understand you are talking from one persons experience. Come back with some UN stats or something or buzz of, you are boring now

Ok to make it clear if anybody wana go see OP he will most prob have a great great time and a great holliday for weeks, months i just think IMO that its not the place to stay. And yes having a friend murderd there could give me another insight in all this.

If Phnom Phen was on the beach i was alredy living there for years i personaly feel way safer there in the capital isnt it weird that crimerate is so huge in that little beachplace?and only few % ever hit the newspaper isnt it sick i cant find nothing on a murder of a foreigener there?I was there i saw it otherwise i would think i was just telling myself a story.

Jeez man you don't stop, you must have really been done over big time when you were in cambodia or your malayasian wife used you as walking atm before ditching you. So much bitterness.

All the best OP, live it up mate.

If OP really isnt experiencing the problems that Cambodia has living the way he lives then surely they are hugely relevant? Its like you telling me repeatedly how crime ridden and terrible New York is because your friends told you how different it was 20 years ago, i wouldnt give a **** if im living in *insert swanky area of NY here* where none of that crap affects me.

Neither, alas, is the case. I enjoyed my time in Cambodia, and I am still happily married.

Weird that you picked a post where I stated that I thought the blog author had a bit too extreme of a dislike for Cambodia to make your point.

Nice first post tho!

I visited Cambodia once, I have family living in Miami so took the bus and stopped over on the way. The first night I didn't know where anything was so I asked the taxi driver to take me to a bar, it was pretty good.. one strange thing is they had an Ostrich on stage with two men dressed up in leathers plucking its feathers, but everyone was enjoying it and I found after a few beers I fit in with the crowd. I ended up getting completely drunk and waking up in some guys place, didn't even know his name.. but later I found out he was actually one of the Ostrich pluckers. Pretty solid experience overall, would reccommend.

LOL there you go again, never mentioned a target, joked about myself turning pro and explained it was a life style change. And I actually enjoy internet poker for a few hours a day.

Looking on the brightside at this thread apart from the 2 haters everyone else has been very encouraging towards me and to Cambodia. So I'll be happy with the many and disregard the 2

Not weird at all, your post was dripping with sarcasm. You sound disappointed to have enjoyed yourself and are still married, that's a shame.

Gotta post sometime...and maybe it says something about your posting style, tone and general attitude that I chose to quote one of your posts. You are coming across as a bit of an arsehole but that's the internet I suppose.

Glad your still enjoying your wife's muff, respect

Hey Moki and Zigi, why dont you two friends go and blow each others instead of ****ing up this thread?

WE UNDERSTAND THAT YOU FIND CAMBODIA DANGEROUS!!!!

FFS you are debating just because you just dont get it, even tho people try to explain to you over and over again. NO ONE ARGUES THAT CAMBODIA IS HEAVEN ON EARTH AND TOTALY SAFE!

GOT IT!?

Oh i agree totally, Lao is a very safe place for tourists. I did live in Vientiane for 2 years now i live further north.
But im not unaffected by crime. I own a houses/land/business and have things stolen regularly. Totally expected as per other comments regarding SEA/poor nations. That said i still love the lifestyle and wont be leaving anytime soon, and perhaps OP can find the same in cambodia.

Edit, i guess what im trying to say in my slightly drunk state is after all the problems and concerns listed, just maybe its worth the compromise.

OP: start a poker school for the locals to beat 10nl and you will be the town savior for helping them earn more than 45 cents per day.

Moki: appreciating a culture for being non westernized doesn't mean you're doing it because they don't have clean water and they're poor.
